No. No more than leaning on the wall switch for the light makes it brighter after you turned it on. The elevator button tells the controls that the elevator is needed at your floor - it is just yes or no for that question. More pushes doesn't make it more yes. It is not a popularity poll that your floor can win if you keep pressing.

Actually I tap my elevator door with my keys to make it go faster. Actually it so the Yahoo's holding the door up one floor will get on or off and let the elevator go. They can hear it resonate through the elevator shaft and know to stop holding the door....Kinda weird, 'eh?

It eases the human psyche that the elevator will respond faster to more impatient button mashing.
Mechanically it doesn't do a damn thing.

No, but some you can get the doors to close faster by pressing the floor button as soon as you get in.

no but once your in most elevators if you hold the button in say floor 15 i will go from what ever floor your on strait to the 15 floor passing all the rest
