Does he have any character references from his peers?

Did he have to submit a resume containing all of the great things he did before people decided that he was worthy of worship?

What if there was a more suitable deity for the job and we got stuck with this dude?

If there is a god he has no peers or anyone to submit a resume to. We are only "stuck" with the "dude" if we choose to believe.

We can make a decision that we want God to be good since we are the physical expression of God. If we decide that God is something other than good (and I'm not saying that some of us haven't decided that) then we are selling ourselves short. I wouldn't support a god who was anything less than good. And I am a very patient and generous person as you can plainly tell by my having given an answer to your question.

Because "good" is God and his will. "Bad" are the attributes of mankind that try to defy God's will. The whole idea of "good" was made to define the will of God. The idea of "bad" is the opposite. Mankind made their own version of "good" in which case some things you may define as "good" are in reality of the spiritual sense "bad". If God did something "bad" in our point of view, the ultimately reality is that it was actually "good", and we have misunderstood "good" alltogether. "Bad" is the result of us thinking we know more than the creator who gave us the free will even if it means rejection of Him and His will.

Let me know if you cannot figure that out.

Well, its a Christian Catch-22.

If God is Loving, then he isn't perfect. If he's perfect, hes equally Evil.

god is good. he is good to us even thou we dont deserve his grace. all he wants us to do is to surrender our life to him. he is the good one, and we are the bad ones. god is love, he gives us life and he cares for us. if he was bad he would not have sent his only son to die in the cross for all of us sinners. his son died for something he did not even do, yet he took our punishment away by dying for our sins. try and read the bible, its full of great stories and lessons, his only resume is the bible which he left for all of us to study... may the lord bless you. remember god is love

Because Jesus died that we can have eternal life with Him in Heaven. IF we accept Him as our savior and turn from our sins.
