She was totally bound up. The vet had to give her 4 enimas and I don't know how many stool softners to get things moving again. He told me that constipation was common among manx cats. I am to sprinkel metimucial on her food daily. Has anyone had any similar problems with their manx? Any ideas on treatment?
Thank you!

Like a human they need roughage - don't just feed him/her canned cat food, but table scraps. My cats loved uncooked corn on the cob and this is a good roughage. You might also give it the stuff that is for hair balls, it's like Vaseline with malt flavoring or even some mineral oil mixed with the food.

i recognize in england that the time cost to get therapy is extremely lengthy, yet, 5 YEARS!!!! i imagine you want a colonoscopy asap. i recognize what a flare-up is. taken aback? think about been affected by I B S or some form of intestinal inflammation, those form of years. attempt calling the gastro. position and ask that they get you considered formerly because you're in a lot soreness...there will be a reason that your dr. became attracted on your glucose factor, for yet another well being difficulty. Are you very overweight? can't furnish you with further suggestion, when you consider that i do not recognize lots about you. Lie on your aspect with a pillow and that would make you better mushy, if weight is an argument. you'd be allergic to gluten, hence swelling whenever you eat bread. when you consider that it truly is present day in diverse ingredients, it could be why you've had those form of intestinal complications, devoid of any dr figuring this out! supply up bread & different baked products, till your mission is resolved and DO drink a minimum of 8 cups of fluids ea day; it would help your continual constipation.

I am looking for a solution to this problem too. My 22 yr old cat has no tail and does not have bowel movements every day. She has plenty of moisture and salmon oil capsules in her raw meat diet.

I have been trying Capra Mineral Whey (much like metamucil) for about a week and I don't see any improvement. I wanted to use that because it has some nutritional value and the goat whey is supposed to tone the colon (as opposed to the metamucil which is nutritionally inert and just adds bulk to the stool).

So that didn't work for me. Pumpkin is supposed to add bulk too and Cameo did not want that in her food. Maybe I will try some doses of laxatone next. Have you tried that?
