Not yet. But you do need your drivers licence (which I assume you have). They will require a passport or some form of government issued ID in the future.
But you know......it's a good idea to take a passport nowadays whenever you travel.....it's good identification.
***Oh, you're a foreign national? Then I think you would require a passport. You are neither a citizen of Canada or the US. It would be difficult for you to cross into the states. They'll want to know why you're going there & that you don't plan on remaining illegally. You will also have to go thru the same proceedure upon returning to Canada.

As a Canadian at present all we need is a valid birth cetificate or baptism certificate. In January of next year a passport will be needed for flights between the two countries. They are still negotiating regarding travelling via car across the border. As a person from France I'm actually uncertain but would imagine that your passport would be enough to get you across the border. Have a great time in Canada and enjoy the beauty and spendor of our country.

If you don't have dual French/Canadian citizenship, you'll need your French passport at the very least and you'll need to check with your Government's status regarding visa requirements with the USA.. French citizens may or may not need a visa to enter the US, only your consulate or the American consulate here can tell you. If you DO have dual Canadian/ French nationality, you can apply for a Canadian passport and use it to travel to the USA, with no other document required, if you don't have a criminal record. Alternatively, any other proof of Canadian citizenship and additional photo ID such as a Canadian driver's licence, will also be accepted.
Any travel documents you required for entry to Canada( visas), other than your passport, won't help you get into the States if you are in Canada as a visitor, temporary worker, student or a refugee claimant. So if you're here under any of those visas or grant to stay, it won't get you into the States by themselves.

You will need your passport, since you are from france, unless you have citizenship in Canada, then your citizenship card will suffice, as well as a current drivers license. If you just have permanent residency in Canada, I think you will need a passport. I am assuming you have a passport though, so use it! You shouldn't need a Visa if you are living in Canada, but you might want to check the US govt website to be sure, and bring proof of residence in Canada.
