i would like to some how be able to download it to my pc then turn it in to vob files which i have the program to do that and then just burn it with nero

you need an video interface to input from the 8mm to your computer. see device below for example.
I have a cheap dvd player/recorder at target' that has direct camera hook up so i go from 8mm to dvd disc to computer for authoring

My miniDV camcorder had a firewire connection, but my computer didn't. I had to install a firewire card and I use MS Movie Maker to download to my PC.

it is easy, check for the recommended soft ware and the manual
