I am feeling a amazingly strong pull to go into full-time missions, and i have a chance to do so. But i am still a little unsure if it is my calling. How do you know? and please no skeptic, sarcastic, atheist replies. just looking for a Christian point-of-view on this one.

When God is calling me to do something, the pull to do it is amazing. When I fight it, there is such a feeling of uneasiness in my life, in all aspects.
When I finally agree (I have a tendancy to fight it) God gives me peace in all areas.

If you are asking in this medium then I believe you need to do a little more soul searching first. But God calls each of us differently, the calling if powerful should be followed because the Lord is asking you for help, to be His hands, feet and voice to the needy, He is asking you to be like his Son, Christ the servant. So go with your heart, if it is leading you to become more Christ like, which by the way we are all called to be, then just do it. The rewards are great, mission life is not easy, but the payment is awesome.
God bless you on your decision, keep you in your journey through life and guard you from all evil.

Typically you will know because the pull will manifest itself in strange ways at strange times. You will ignore it or note it and then move on to your next task, however it will continue to pop back up. The best example I have is a friend that felt a calling to a daily late night event at the church. He ignored it and thought about it but didn't act on it. He then found that he was waking up every night at about 2:00 to bo to the bathroom. This daily event convinced him of his calling. He has been going everyday for 4 years now.

When the Holy Spirit is "ushering" me to do God's will, I can hardly focus on anything else. I'm very consumed by the task the Lord has put before me, with a very keen sense of urgency! Good Luck in your decision, and remember The Lord will direct you, just stand still and listen!

Every Friday morning I meet with a couple of other guys to discuss life and grow in our faith together. This morning we had a great conversation centering around 2 questions.
1. Can you make a list of statements starting with "I know it is God's will in my life to .....
2. Do you believe God as a perfect will for your life and can you know that you are in the center of living that perfect life.

We concluded that the Bible is full of statements on how to live life according to His will. The Bible is his written instructions on how to live life.

Going into full-time missions is one of many examples of following what He has written for us to do. Take your decisions one at a time, always trying to be righteous in each decision - if that leads you to full-time missions then that IS where he is leading you.

It is a strong pull, something that keeps coming back in your life. I know I have calling to be a nun, but I'm not ready for that. Maybe later on, but not now. How do I know I have a calling? I've wanted to be in the religious life since I was five. If you feel called to go into missionary work, go ahead.

Well, first thing is, how strong? Has the Lord given you pictures of the mission field, are you having dreams of working in the mission field? You see God will use your imagination to show you what He wants you to do. Holy Spirit sanctified imagination btw. I can imagine all sorts of things in my flesh, that doesn't mean it's God.

I'm talking about what Paul meant when he said the eyes of our understanding being opened. That's not just seeing in the spirit, that's opening your spiritual senses(all five) and expecting God to bring about some type of visitation. Trust me on this, God wants to give you direction. We aren't meant to wander around trying to do good, He wants us to listen, get counsel from Him, and carry out His exact will, His bluprint. Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing. This is what He meant. Take the time everyday to listen and try and open your spirit to the heavenly realms.

We can learn to walk in the spirit daily my friend. It's not mysticism or new age. Anything Satan can do God already created for us to do. Satan merely takes something, like astral projection for example, and then allows people to do it with illegal access into the heavenly realms (outside of Christ) Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand means this: Change the way you live and think, the domain of Heaven is right here, right now. Heaven is around you right now, some people can even see into it. Remember when Jesus was talking to Nicodemus on the rooftop in John 3:12?

"If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how shall you believe if I tell you heavenly things? And no one has ascended up to Heaven except He who came down from Heaven, the Son of Man who is in Heaven."

Is in Heaven, you see that? In...at any moment Jesus had access to Heaven, not because He could fly up into Heaven, but because the Kingdom is here, at hand. This is why Jesus got away by Himself so often, to keep His spiritual senses exercised.

Heb 5:14 "But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, even those who because of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

All that to say...keep seeking the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation.
Wait for the Spirit of Counsel, with it comes the Spirit of Might. May the peace and unfailing love of our Lord Jesus Christ rest upon you.

I will agree with most of these answers about feeling that pull, but I would also add, look for confirmation. Talk with your pastor, ask his thoughts. Are you ready to go right now, or is this a call for later? Spiritual authority is put in our lives to help us identify God's voice. They are often the ones used to confirm what you have heard from God. Remember Gideon, he heard from God to go fight and he put out the fleece to ask for confirmation. God will confirm His instructions to you.

Well, if you truly think God is calling you to do this, then he will reveal it to you, let God lead you, and at the same time help lead yourself, trust me, you will know if it will be the right decision.

do it because you want to help others, not because of some halucinations about god.
