Some dude was just saying how she was a great example of a non-ignorant Catholic. However, she spent the last years of her life convinced she was possessed by demons. This proves she was ignorant - well-intentioned and good, but ignorant. The poor woman probably had some mental illness. Had she been a rational person rather than a Christian, she probably would have sought and received help.

I think her ignorance showed in her failure to admit that condoms could have saved many, many lives.

I do not think that she was ignorant. I think it is closer to a phenomenon well documented in the Church.

When people sincerely dedicate their life to Creator, their relationship with Creator seems to become that much more intense. So, they are able to see themselves the way that Creator sees them. To use an image: sort of like being under a microscope.

Not that God is this vengeful being who is malicious in intent, but it is like there is no part of your being that can hide. All is revealed.

With this intense vision of self, I could see where a very rational person could start to create reasons (no matter how wild) for the feeling of wanting to be perfect, but failing miserably because we are human and not perfect.

At least this makes sense to me.

She devoted her life for service of poor, ill, and unfortunate.

What are you talking about? Mother Teresa was a great woman who lived only to serve the less fortunate. She became a nun because she was called and lived among the sick and poor, bringing them hope. I"ve read testamonies of people in prisions that she visited, all of whom said that she was a saint. Why don't you try reading about her before you put her down. Maybe you might learn something, dawg.

Maybe you're right. Maybe she was ignorant, but not because she was a Christian. It was because she didn't realize that all of her help comes from the Lord and if she had looked to Him, then she wouldn't have thought she was possessed by demons. No Christan can be possessed; spiritually oppressed maybe, but not demon possessed. Two master's cant dwell in one place.

Instead she took care of the people that were sick and dying around her that nobody else would.

What a beautiful testament to her faith and love for others.

If we were all as ill-rational as her, this world would be a wonderful place to be!

I wish the Mother Theresa bashers had devotion enough to do her work for even one hour!

I wish I did as well.

May God Bless her Soul..

And have Mercy on yours.

Peace!

I'm going to get yelled at like Whoa for this but...

There were many more things that she was ignorant about than just her own mental health. She is recognized by the majority of the world as a compassionate savior to those in need, but there's so much evidence to show that she was in fact quite cruel. She believed that suffering was the only way to holiness, and so often did little to alleviate it. She forced conversion to her faith upon those who were starving and sick before she would help them in any way. She created places for those same sick to go dying, while providing no doctors--the only caretakers were nuns, usually nuns who had no training in hospice work. She took money intended to go to the poverty-stricken in India and used it to build schools--for the training of nuns.

She is the greatest example of propaganda I've seen in my lifetime. I wanted to believe that a person could truly be that caring, but she just wasn't.

Mental illness, contrary to certain peoples view, has nothing to do with Christianity.

She found peace after being exorcised. If you can prove the devil doesn`t exist I will agree she was ignorant.

For the 1 millionth time, the fruits or consequences of one's actions determine their character. How many lives were touched? How many people suffered?
