Check out the links.
Some sites will stop operating in the US. The most notable is PartyPoker.com. Other sites have said they will stand firm, such as FullTiltPoker.com. Other sites have not yet commented, but will probably carry on as before.
The US market is huge and few companies want to walk away from that kind of revenue.
You can continue to use a service like Neteller to fund the poker site and withdraw your winnings.
The law itself is not that much of a big deal for players. What is a big deal is the fact that Bill Frist was able to take a law he wanted, attach it to an unrelated anti-terror bill and simply make it happen without any public debate or discussion. He did it to limit gambling, claiming it hurts families, yet the bill specifically legalizes horse race betting, fantasy sports betting and online lotteries. Which is a nonsensical double standards. Bill Frist is out of touch with what the people want and no one should forget his underhand and despicable behavior that shows a total disregard for democracy.

There are some places that are going to stay open that you can use unless you live in one of the few states that explicitly outlaw online gambling. You can view some poker rooms that will continue to accept players at http://answerspot.blogspot.com/2006/10/party-poker-is-closing-my-account-soon.html
Oddly enough, someone emailed me nearly that exact question today!

I suggest http://www.moderngrinder.com this site is written by a guy who makes his living playing poker on-line and is following the issue very closely. On-line poker will survive but it may not be as safe because the largest and most reputable sites are closing their real money tables to US customers.

Some sites are banning US players. the law itself does not make playing poker illegal. There are a few good sites out there with up to date news on it like this one http://www.unitedstatespoker.org/
A few sites are still going to allow US players if you want to sign up at one and get rakeback there go to this link http://www.ultimatepokerbankroll.com/article.php/poker-rakeback

poker sites will not ban you because they are not doing anything illegal....it is illegal for people in the united states to gamble online. in theory it isn't a bad idea to make it a little bit more difficult to break the law...

online gaming has been banned in the US, and it's against the law for credit card companies to take payments from them. A credit card give you more protection than wiring money to a company you've never seen.
