Testing involves operation of a system or application under controlled conditions and evaluating the results (eg, 'if the user is in interface A of the application while using hardware B, and does C, then D should happen'). The controlled conditions should include both normal and abnormal conditions. Testing should intentionally attempt to make things go wrong to determine if things happen when they shouldn't or things don't happen when they should. It is oriented to 'detection'. (See the Bookstore section's 'Software Testing' category for a list of useful books on Software Testing.)

Organizations vary considerably in how they assign responsibility for QA and testing. Sometimes they're the combined responsibility of one group or individual. Also common are project teams that include a mix of testers and developers who work closely together, with overall QA processes monitored by project managers. It will depend on what best fits an organization's size and business structure.

How do you produce quality software? Really think about that. The current [Rational] belief is to follow a rigid development process including testing. Many feel the test cases (what the software should do listed as pass-fail tests) should be done before coding starts. Tests themselves - look into JUnit for Java testing - use test "harnesses" or "Drivers" and "stubs" so parts of the software can be tested even though all may not be complete. A common practice among coders is to have a test for each class created. The tests tests boundary condition (-1, 0, 999999, etc.) and such.
Plus you'll learn about some famous disasters which resulted from no/bad testing (NASA, X-Ray machines, etc.)

Telecom sorting out is extra of an end to end intense point communication sorting out of telecom application/gadget. It does not delve deep into the protocol specification, and basically makes beneficial the telecom applications are waiting to hold the media (voice/video) from one endpoint to a distinctive, - in short, works precise. Datacom sorting out is equivalent to telecom sorting out yet bargains with information communication quite than basically voice/video.
