You know the spring coil. I have a sweet lover in my house who is allergic to dust mites. There is not as much fabric in those.

You can buy a mattress cover that the dust mites can't get through

Dust mites eat dead skin so no matter what type of mattress you have, you need to vacuum your mattresses regularly and get allergy-relief washable mattress covers you can zip around your mattresses. Wash your pillows regularly in hot water with bleach or some product for sanitizing, then use the allergy-relief covers for your pillows too.

Bedding needs to be washed frequently to keep the mite population under control. If you have carpeting, you should have it taken out and replaced with vinyl or a hard surface that will be easier to clean. An alternative is to have your carpet professionally cleaned four or more times per year. Also, it is better to have easy to clean blinds on your windows instead of curtains - or wash your curtains often to keep the dust down.

Yes, they feed on dead skin cells. Get an allergenic slip cover for the mattress, they work well. You can get one at Wal-Mart.
