Also, are they more likely to be pro-Iraq war, or against it?

The vietnam vets that I know usually vote Republican. That doesn't mean that they always agree with everything that the Republican party does. I asked my father-in-law a similar question once. He is a Vietnam Vet. and rarely speaks politics. He said that he felt like both parties today were just worried about themselves and didn't care at all about the real people of the United States. He votes for the "lesser of two evils" as the old saying is.
BTW , I would like to see an Independant with a real chance at the office. Republicans seem to want to take over the world and Democrats seem to want to take over the country. I wish we had our country back from the politicians.

My Grandpa was a world war 2 veteran and he strongly disagreed with the Vietnam "war". My dad is a Vietnam veteran and he very against this Iraq war, and so are his friends from Nam who are still alive and sane.

Very interesting answers figuring on May 10 1971 before many of you were born I was laying bleeding, thinking I was dying like a whole lot of others. I did not give a dam about Republicans (war mongers for big business) or Democrats (whiners about everything for big business) and still do not care. EVERY vet I know felt and feels the same I still eat hot sauce on everything and jump at noises and see faces when I sleep. I hate it because McNamara now says he and Johnson knew the war could never be won. I hope I am not alive when the administration finally admits that about Iraqi to the public. Oh, and for that smart *** who thinks Viet Nam vets were dumb, with the draft we had professionals , brick layers, and car salesmen not like this Army that the world feels is mercenaries, boys and girls who are paid more but are from families who could not offer them a future. It is too late for me but I think they should be given a bonus for going and doing what they are doing.

God bless them all and the Southern People.

I am a Progressive. I too carry things I do not talk about. We were lied to about Viet Nam. We were lied to about Iraq. Any question about either of those? Meanwhile who profits? Certainly not those who served or serve now. The generals on the ground say we are only making it worse. Sounds familiar to me. I say let's get to sitting with the Kurds (who happen to like us) and defend them. Finish the job in Afghanistan. Sad to say we have lost more now in Iraq than we lost on 9/11.

Yeah, watch how little the US honors the vets from this war, too. Welcome home, Brothers and Sisters.

I think it is split down the line. The Vietnam veterans I know I are republicans, but there were many against the war but still fought. They didn't run like a bunch of girls to Canada.

My experience is that most of us are somewhat Conservative, but may or may not be a republican (sometimes Conservative and republican are not the same thing)

Even tho' Republican or Conservative many of us have a problem with the Iraq war (fear for the same mistakes all over again)

i imagine of Perry is an exceedingly sturdy governor yet i imagine of it truly is time for him to come back again living house and be a sturdy governor. he's a harmful debater and Obama will make him look even worse. Obama talks an exceedingly sturdy sport. (does no longer do suited at honestly accomplishing some thing he talks about) staggering now i'm leaning in the course of Gingrich yet have not settled on him or each man or woman else yet.

When in the military you don't find yourself bickering back and forth like some do here in Q&A. Most in the military could care less about party lines and are smart enough to vote for the best person they feel can and will do the job they are elected for. As far as I can remember..... none of us voted for any war. We just did our job and followed orders and respected our duties to protect our country.
