Cats handle their own bathing. The only time you would have to bathe a cat is if they get into something and are really stinky or dirty.

I have a 14, 13, 11, 10 year old cats who have never had a bath. I have a 22 yr old cat who does not groom herself anymore. She has gone to a groomer for a monthly bath for about three years now.
So I haven't found it necessary to bathe my cats and they do go outside in my garden (not off my property). We have long months here without rain and they get "dusty" toward the end of the summer.

Like others have said, you only need to bath a cat when it can't bath itself or has gotten extremely dirty. That makes less hassle for you because who wants to go through the hassle of bathing a cat. They really don't appreciate it anyway!
At pet stores they do sell pet bathing wipes which might be helpful.

We used to bathe our other two at least once in the spring as they were inside/outdoor cats and sometimes they were flea infested. The one was good about grooming herself, the other one, not so.
Barney had a slight medical problem and thus he could be offensive at times and sometimes he required an additional bath over the season.

you don't need to bath a cat, that is what it's tongue is for. Only if it was too old or too caked in dirt to get it off itself. A normal healthy cat does not need a bath.

Only if the cat gets awfully dirty somehow or is old and can't groom itself anymore...Cats are masters at keeping themselves squeaky clean and usually don't require help..My little 8 yr old cat has never once had a bath and she is beautiful:)

Never bath a cat, he can clean himself very well.
The only things I do are :
- I brush him sometimes, to get rid of some fur so he won't chocked on it when he'll lick himself
- I clean (with a wet tissue) his paws when he go outside in the mud or somewhere worse.

depends why you want to bathe them.
If they stink or don't bathe themselves because of age then you might want to do it. Also if you want to cut down on the hair or have someone who has a mild cat allergy in the house you might want to bathe them frequently.
It is not good to bathe them when they can clean themselves but if it is needed it is needed.

Bathe a cat only when it gets itself too dirty for self-cleaning or when you need to apply anti-flea shampoo.
