It depends on what the laws are in the state you live in. It is not the same nationally.

A dog that has a history of biting people will most likely be labeled as an aggressive dog. If the dog has not had a rabies shot he will be taken from the owner and kept for a specified period of time and then most likely be put down and tested for rabies. If the dog had not had a rabies shot the person who was bit will have to go through a series of shots for rabies. Laws differ from community to community. You may want to contact your local law enforcement agency to find out the protocol for biting dogs.

If the dog bite a person they will put it to sleep.Which is sad because the dog was probably scared. If you want to press charges well you can sue the owner by contacting an attorney but you must have prof that is what happened and why. There is a leash law so if the dog was not tied up then they will have to pay.

first off animal control will come out and ask you questions. they will ask if your dog is up to date on all shots. if he has ever bitten before, how much do you know about the other dog. you will have to quarantine the dog the dog that did the human bit ting for 10days you can do this in your own home or a shelter. you maybe liable for medical bills for the victim. and sometimes when one dog bites the other they both may need to be quarantined for that 10 day period, that will be up to the animal control officer. and if your dog has a history of bit-ting then you will most likely have more to deal with.

It can really vary depending on the town/city this occurs in as the laws vary from place to place.
In my town, there's a 3 strikes law. 3 human bites reported and the dog is put down as considered aggressive. Usually, a first and second bite, the owner receives a warning and is instructed to maintain control of their dog to prevent this from happening again.

Animal control will take dog and evaluate it to make sure there is no diseases and monitor dogs behavior. If it is a serious bite then dog might have to be put to sleep.

i am pretty sure if the dog bites a person they can call for it to be destroyed but the owner can take it to court and i noe that the lost dogs home near me actually put dangerous dogs through a program sorta rehabilitation, but if they fail they are always put down, animal control basically kill the animals that aren't fluffy and cute... well that my view on it!
