When I came to the UK in 1968 there was a lot of hardship involved in settling in a new country.
This was not at all unexpected.
I accepted cold and the dresscode, the neighbourhood, the workplace, the new customs, as I wanted to make a new life here.

Now people come to the UK expecting it all on a plate.
Now housing, jobs and income too are provided to the new immigrant.
Anyone interested in facts can contact the local authorities in their area.

It is high time the migrant, especially economic migrant, was told that if they wish to settle in the UK it would be on the terms of the local communities.

Unlike, perhaps, you, I have been a law abiding citizen and paid all my taxes to date.

"Migration Watch UK then adds a further 60,000 to this figure to account for asylum seekers who enter the UK but "disappear" "
Disappear for tax puposes?

Certain sections of the communities not only try to impose their ways on the rest of the community but they also kill the innocent in trying to do so.
You might not agree with this but the majority of the community will, I am sure.

Why were the immigrants from Somalia housed in brand new houses in a certain area of London. Members of the local communities were just pushed to the back of the queue. I call this PC gone potty.

I totally agree with you. But what I can`t understand is why Britain is letting anyone new into our country. We are over populated and have 1.6 million un-employed.

I am not racist in any way, but you can`t fit a gallon into a pint pot, and the sooner the people in control realise this the better for all.

In today's society, particularly western society, it has become fasionable to try to be a universalist. By which I mean, that people see the community as larger than their political and geographic boundries.

It has followed an economic trend toward a universal or global economy. As business expands into other countries, people are always on their best behavior to wheedle out the best deal they can. It spills over into the non business world after time.

Add to this the current apologetic mindset that many people seem to find neccessary towards those less fortunate.

People have become led to believe they are not to be held responsible for their behaviors and situations due to circumstances and influence from others in their lives and their pasts.

All of these add up to PC. Political Correctness.

it is often easier for some people to aquiesce and comply or agree rather than to make a stand for their values, because they belive the resulting ( or imagined result) conflict would not be worth the time, effort and energy to engage said conflict.

The only real solution to this behavior, is to accept the migrants for what they are. People coming to a new place to start a new life, and holding out a welcoming, helpful hand while having firm expectations that they have the understanding that they are not where they were.. They will be expected to adapt to their new surroundings. not the opposite.

Be well

First of all just to state I am not an Immigrant. But, I would like to say..........who said immigrants, when they come to the UK they impose their way of life on the local communities???

I am sure, when they come they are leaving behind their loved ones, family, relatives, home, land etc.etc for whatever reasons (econolical, political). They are scared as to what to expect in the country they've migrated to. How the people will treat them, will they find a job, a home etc.etc. But they have all the right to live their life as the way they please, dress what they like, eat what they like etc.etc. So long as they don't go against any of the countries laws and so long as they don't annoy people or become the part of the yob culture or become part of the Youth's way of life, i,e. get into drugs, bing drinking, prostitution etc.etc.

So long as they live a good decent life, work and contribute to the society with their wealth (tax), knowledge and culture, I don't see a problem. The country is vast and the world is vast. That law in China, it is just rediculous. Such a vast country, yet they say one child for one couple only???!!! Do they think that they are the ones who provide provisions (food, water, material everything that humans need to survive) for themselves and others?? or is it God!

There are plenty of acrs of land that can be developed into new villages and towns to accomodate growing British population and legitimate immigrants. I don't see these immigrant who come here imposing their way of life on people, if they had, then this country would not be a democratic country, would it? No country as a whole imposes its way of life on other people, but it has its laws according to their religion and culture that they implemetnt and foreigners are to abide by them and residents are to live by them.

People naturally bring their customs with them , you don't stop being the person you are just because you move house do you . If someone moves to another country as a child it is easier and more natural for them to assimilate the customs of their new country . As an adult it is harder to become like the indigenous people of that country. These things take years to change and people feel uneasy about strangers with unusual ways and customs in their midst. In Britain we have seen emigrants from many countries come here and merge into the population . From Greece , Ireland , Poland , Italy , the Indian sub continent and many more. Going back in history we have been influenced by many invaders who merged with the residents over the years . Examine your name and see where you originated ,not perhaps where you thought ? Dress codes change over time . Immigrants come here to work and better themselves ,whats wrong with that . The world is changing fast , you have to change with it . The old Britain is gone forever , get used to it .

it can be hard to judge the true intent of those when the arive and many will lie to get in and later have extended family they want here it is harder it seems some times to get a home if you were born here. I was told I only got a flat as it had been refused by homeless people or those living in hostle. its 3 bedroom flat on the third floor of a 4 story block when I moved in there was no central heating and there is no lift but other wise its a good flat,

There is a lot of debate in Australia about migrants accepting Australian values, and not bringing their tradional lifestyle and customs(and sometime hatred) to this country. I imagine if you cant speak the language, you would feel comfortable in communities with your own ethnic group, but l think migrants should assimilate with the wider community.

I completely agree with you. As a US citizen, i don't understand why everything now has to be in Spanish and English. If you want to come to this country and be an "american", then you should learn to speak and read english. I take a trip to Ecuador every year, and I brush up on my spanish beforehand. i don't see that country changing their language and customs because a group of Americans are coming over. Is there anything we can do as a group to change this?? If so, please let me know and I will back it 100%.

They come here, get everything on a plate, take full advantage of everything, so when there's a tiny hint that it might not all be going their way over something or other, they're immediately up the wall and shouting the odds AND TELLING US THAT W E ' R E THE ONES TO BLAME FOR IT ALL, so they just take over the place. Easy. ain't it !!! Why??? Because NOBODY'S HAD THE GUTS TO TELL THEM TO BEHAVE IN O U R COUNTRY.

Can you imagine an Englishman trying to impose their way of life in Muslim countries? Can you imagine if a woman said no to covering up if she was to hot?

We are expected to respect other customs when we're abroad (and we do, we have no choice) but when people come here to our country we still have to abide by their customs. I don't want to speak to someone whose face is covered by a veil - it offends me because I cannot see their expressions. And if I say something about it I'll be called a racist.

I've nowt wrong with people of any faith/religion coming here, just as long as they pay taxes and don't kill others who don't believe in their faith.
