The whole idea is to get a touble shoot and then, try to fix it myself or I would have called a repair man in the first place instead of asking on here(to slvrfx24 and others!

Oh well you still got a crop of idiots so far !!. My guess is that the mica insulating washer that is under the line amp transistor has arced thru, this was common ten years ago when blue mica washers were used, I have done heaps of those. However it can only be an educated guess because I am not clairvoyant like Mystic Man who says the tube is going out !!I have 45 years fixing TV so I do have a fair idea !! You need to unsolder the transistor and examine the washer they usually had hole burnt in them . If I am wrong I have been practising my typing skills ! Cheers Pete
PS What happened to the Sony with the fuse that you fixed ?

Okay I am sure you don't wanna hear this but here it is. You're picture tube is going out, we had one do the same thing. You can't fix it yourself, you will need to replace the picture tube . You can try to have it fixed, but the honest truth is it will cost you a good amount of money and may not last very long. Replacing the tube is an option, but also an expensive one, especially when you compare it to the price of a new TV. This is the honest truth, an 11 year old TV is not worth putting money into for repair work, because it will continue to malfunction due to its age and within a couple of years you will have spent more on trying to fix it than it would have cost to buy a new one in the first place.
