could be either...there are plenty of legalistic religous people that are very "religous" in the aspect that they follow dogmatic rules and regulations but are as far from god as they can be

The usual connotation is that religious means good but, like most things, context matters. When you're talking about a guy who donates time and money to charity because of his religious beliefs, it's a positive association. However, if you think of the 9/11 hijackers as religious, it's bad. Also, whether or not someone has a positive view of religion in general will matter.

It can be both. Like no one wants the dudes in the suits or the ladies in the nice dresses knocking at their door and sharing when you are in your togs wanting to paint. I will also say I was a little wierded out by the dude with the WWJD on his screen saver at work...mostly because he didn't speak and was kind of creepy...but I have friends who I would describe as religious and it means that they are devoted to their faith...their actions are based on their core beliefs...most of those people really think the faith out too. They aren't all Christians either. To say they are religious maybe explains their motivation or their reasoning to make decisions. It's not a bad thing.

When a person is described as 'religious' , it is just indicative of the nature of that person, his ability to trust a prescribed code of ethics, his trust in traditional values, his trust in experience of others, his sense of loyalty to a dedicated group , his ability to rise above personal priorities, etc....
The good or bad is very relative to how effective the religion is , and the level of tolerance(clash with scientific reasoning) , adaptability to modern way of life, and whether the present day preachers of that religion are prepared to update the interpretations to make it relevant to present day's updated needs !

It depends what thieir feelings are on religion and who they are talking to, what kind of religion though? Isn't Satanism a religion?
Football, Rock n Roll, anything that can be followed to the extreme could be included in that catagory. So enquire as to what this person means? Is he insulting you or is he complementing you? Is it in a good way? Or a bad way?

well i think its a little bad if your friends decribe as religious specially when you are a youth, your friends may mean in your presence they are not able to talk rubish or flirt many people.
If you are a girl than boys may think that you may not be kind of girl who like flirting or maybe they mean you are not that sensual.

BUT IF PEOPLE OLDER THAN YOU DESCRIBE YOU AS RELIGIOUS THEN THIS IS THE BEST COMPLEMENT THEY CAN OFFER.

best of luck!
