I would look at putting her on Nutro Large Breed Puppy, Diamond brand has a good Large Breed puppy formula as well. Solid Gold Wolf Cub is a nicer quality than the other 2 and is also for large breed pups. Iams and Eukanuba aren't great food, neither is Science Diet, and with a dog as prone to health problems along with not living very long anyway, you should get the best quality food you can afford to stave off some of the problems that come with feeding lower quality foods. Wellness and Innova are great, maybe try the Innova puppy. The thing with higher quality is that the calorie content per cup of food is much higher than other foods, so you don't have to feed as much...meaning less waste coming out as well. Kinda nice when you are going to have to feed a lot regardless. My dobie puppy was eating 6 cups of food a day when she was little. Hope some of this helps.

Try Nutro Large Breed Puppy Food. Available at Petco. Most regular puppy food can cause a great dane's bones to grow too fast and be misshapen. ANY OLD DOG FOOD will not do!! The reason dogs are healthier and live longer these days is because in part of the quality of food.

Look here. http://www.daneangelnetwork.org/Feeding.htm
Danes are dogs that should be fed several times a day. Some Dane breeder's do not even feed their pups, puppy food. A BARF diet might be a good choice for you. Danes do not need a high protein food, and a large breed adult food might be the best bet for you. A preventive stomach tack might be a good idea as well, this will not prevent a bloat, but it will prevent a stomach torsion. What kind of food was your pup on when you got her?

Check the ingredient labels on the food. Avoid those that list rice as the first ingredient. Look for ones that list the meat first (whether chicken, duck, lamb, etc.) Veggies and BROWN rice should also be listed. I recommend Natural Balance and Wellness, but they are alittle more expensive than some other brands and can only be found at quality pet shops, not supermarkets or PetSmart/Petco. Every dog owner will have a fav brand but if you check the labels you can make an informed decision. Good luck with her!!

I prefer the good old fashioned raw meat. I have 8 dogs who eat a diet of raw beef. I have a dog who has hip problems every time I switched back to dog food. When he is on raw meat, absolutely no pain! There is no more switching back to dog food at this house. I want my dogs to have only the best! Something with the dog food is not natural.
So, do some research and feed raw. Your dog will be much healthier for it. BTW your vet may not like that idea. Wonder why? could it be that it will take profits from his pocket. My dogs have not needed a vet for years.

A word of advice check the protein levels with puppy foods for my Gordon Setter it was too high and she had a small problem with fast growing bones. She's fine now but with the ball and socket type leg joint the ball grew faster and hurt a lot. Had to switch to the cheapest food I could find , which was brilliant cause it had less protein. Now I bet you're worried, sorry

I would suggest something specifically for large breed puppies. We have used a brand called Inova in the past, which was suggested by our vet. But many of the known brands such as Science Diet and Iams are more reasonably priced and also adequate for your puppy.

i have had several great dane puppies, our vet gave us this puppy diet to put them on, and they all loved it, grew to be big and strong. hope it works for you!

morning meal- eukanuba large breed dog food, soaked, canned milk, bil-jac dog food, oatmeal baby cereal and water. 1 cup of everything

noon meal - cottage cheese or yougurt (plain or vanilla)
1 1/2 cups to 2 cups

evening meal - same as morning meal.

you can find the eukanuba large breed dog food at a pet smart. when your girl hits 3 months of age start giving her vitamin C without rose hips 500mg. (it will say with rose ips or without rose hips on the bottle) just put that in her morning meal. at 5 months start giving her a pill in both morning and evening meals.

i used to soak the dog food in warm water for about 15 minutes before hand. the gerber oatmeal always did the trick for me.
