His clock is off. He's having "The Midnight Crazies," but he's having them a few hours off schedule.
My Scooter got the Midnight Crazies when he was young, but he outgrew them. By the time he was four or five years old he no longer did that, at least not regularly. Then when he was six Rusty, who was only about two, moved in with us and they played "Thunderin' Cats," a sort of recreational stampede, all day and all night for the next few years.
This is pretty normal kitten and young cat behavior. What surprises me is that, with three other cats, you haven't seen this before!
If your others are older you might consider another kitten as a playmate for the little one. That might help keep them both tuckered out, but it might just mean twice as many kitties thunderin' across your bed at night...
Another idea that might or might not work is to keep some turkey meat n hand and give kitty a hunk of turkey as a treat at your bedtime. Of course you can't give to one without giving to all, so you'll need enough turkey to treat all four. The triptophan in the turkey should send kitty to dreamland.
There are two potential risks with this solution. One is that a kitten's metabolism is so fast and a kitten has so much energy that the effect of the triptophan might not last through the night. The other is what happened to my friend Bob when he tried that trick on his cat. The cat quickly learned that all he had to do to get a hunk of turkey was wake Bob up in the middle of the night.
Still, it might be worth a try...
One thing that might work and has no risk of adverse effects is to engage kitty in a vigorous play session before you go to bed. That will tucker him out - but he'll probably be ready for more long before you're ready to get up in the morning...
When my Boys were I their Thunderin' Cats stage, the only thing I could do was start going to bed a little earlier to make up for being woken up a few times during the night.

He will grow out of it. Just give him time. I have 3 cats and the older 2 (11 and 9 years old) just look at the youngest one (7months old) like he is crazy. All kittens do it. By the way is he fixed yet? That helps somewhat.
Good Luck.

Hello to you and purrrrs to Bean!!!
Bean is in training for the Kitten Olympics ... and every kitty knows that the absolute BEST time to train is at three o'oclock in the morning. And, of course, the BEST place to train is in the bedroom of your owners. Hee hee hee. Look at it this way, when Bean becomes a rich and famous Olympic Kitty-Athlete, you will become famous, too!
Seriously, Bean wants to play. When he runs around and nips your noses and pounces on you he is saying PLAY WITH ME! PLAY WITH ME! PLAY WITH ME! For some unfathomable reason, kittens and kitties are nocturnal, and when WE want to sleep, THEY want to play.
Your best bet is to either keep him in a different room at night, or get a second kitten for him to play with!
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

My cat wakes us up at 4am usually every morning by jumping up on things and knocking things over or just making a lot of noise. He seems to do it a lot less on nights that we spend quality play time with him before going to bed. Maybe you should try that. Good luck.

It sounds like your cat is fraping (Feline rapid activity period, that's what we call it). My roommate's kitten was hyper at night. She finally had to kick him out of the room and let him sleep with the other cat. He did complain about it for a little while, then he came to love spending his days and nights with his new cat pal. They chase each other and play whenever one or both are fraping.

Cats are nocturnal so it seems that 3 AM is when it kicks in for him.......hopefully its just a phase and he will eventually get on the same schedule as the other kitties in the house. It is pretty funny tho.......hyper cats crack me up........

I know this is hard, but try to ignore him, don't even acknowledge him when he does it. Hopefully he will stop soon because he got no attention. If that doesn't work, spray him with water when he does it.

Welcome to "the nighttime crazies." Lots of fun when you have to get up early the next day. Usually they outgrow it, but not always!
