It's very easy, since he's your friend! Others just try hard to ask someone out because they are not close to this person! You can ask him out easily! This happens to many people in the world now! Just ask him out, that would be great!

You shouldn't hook up with him, if you appreciate the friendship you too have. Now if you tell him that you have feelings for him and he doesn't have feelings for you, then he's going to push you to the side. Your friendship will go down the drain because you have feelings for him in a way he doesn't for you. If he wanted to hook up with you, then he would've already. If you are willing to risk your friendship, then go for it.
