Yes I live in London presently due to outsourcing of my American employment. This summer I was able to stay at my friend Jenny_is_Hot for a month at her home, while I picked up loose end work with my company. I met her here on Yahoo Answers of all places too. She is a dear friend to me, and one of finest women you could ever befriend. I was raised in Liverpool, and I attended Collage at Dartmouth. So you could say I have been in and out at times.

I've been to Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Portugal, England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Zambia.

I've never had any problems with the people, customs or language. World travel is wonderful.

Best cities for walking - Barcelona, Amsterdam, Geneva.
Best cities for food - Rome, Amsterdam.
Favorite foreign city - Amsterdam, Rome.
Nicest people - Amsterdam and Rome.
Nastiest people - Paris, Brusselles, some areas of Germany.
Best beaches - Puerto Rico.
Best bars - Madrid, London, San Juan.

Yes. I have. You'd be surprise at how different, yet similar, other places are. All hotels, most restaurants and stores pretty much look the same wherever you go. And most people I've encountered while away have always been nice. You should be fine. I always make sure I get no sleep before I fly so I can sleep on the plane. It's actually quite boring. It's neat when you take off, and for the first few minutes you can watch the ground below, but once you get up over the clouds, welcome to snoozeville.
Hope this helps your nervousness a bit. Good luck and most importantly, have fun!

Hi, don't worry english people are nice and the United Kingdom is one of the best country in Europe. If you stay there several weeks you can benefit from the European Union and visit other countries in Europe, you dont need a visa, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland or my country : France which capital is just 2 or 3 hours by train from London

I've been all over the place. If you are a native English speaker, you've even got an advantage. As for the plane, you're more likely to die crossing the street than in a plane.

Just check into all the crazy new regulations they have at the airports now so that that part of your trip isn't more annoying than it has to be.

I've lived abroad. It's no big deal. Enjoy it!

Yes I have and travelling is great. Just be aware of your surroundings (stay out of dark alleys etc), dont be too trusting (dont go anywhere alone with strangers), dont wear anything too touristy (muggers and pickpockets look for that kind of thing), similarly dont wear too much jewellry ( a cheap watch works as well as a Rolex for the time you will be there) or flash a wad of cash. As for being on a plane..dont sweat it. I was scared when I first flew..just pretend to yourself you are on a train or something like that..worked for me. Give yourself plenty of time at the airport and wear comfortable clothes...especially shoes 'cos you feet swell. Take the minimum amount of baggage...you can and will buy more stuff on your travels. You will have a great time..I have found people are usually very friendly and if you be yourself they will accept you more easily. Have a great time and take lots of pictures!!!!

Good! You're going to venture out...congratulations.
I know of lots of people that hardly leave their own state, let alone go oveseas.
I was born in the UK, came here to Michigan as a child...have lived all over the US, 6 months in Brazil, SA; 20 trips to Mexico, 2 to Grand Cayman, 2 to honduras, have visited France, Italy, Spain, Canada, & other islands in the caribbean...and I can't wait for my next trip.
Relax...and have fun.

I have visited a few countries and lived in two countries other than my own. Travelling and experiencing new cultures is a wonderful experience that no one should pass up. The UK is wonderful. You will have a good time. Trust me. We British can be really friendly.

Yes. I'm from the US, but I'm living in Germany (husband is US Army). At first, it was hard to adjust. We had culture shock BAD. There was the electricity to worry about, the way Germans take REALLY long lunch breaks, the way the autobahn doesn't tell you whether you're going north or south, no streetlights on the autobahn (scary!), having to bag my own goods at German stores...
But now, my husband and I both love it here!
You'll love the UK also. Have a good time.

don't worry, you'll be fine. you have to take the anxiety you have about travel and turn it into excitement about going somewhere new. i've travelled all over the states and numerous times to asia. flying on a plane is pretty noneventful, you'll probably get bored as your flying. so bring something to entertain yourself with, like music or movies or a book. the only headache you'll probably find is security and customs. other than that, enjoy your trip.
