The bible has basic points that are simple and not hard to interpret. Ex salvation & the ten commandments.
Why is it necessary for churches and preachers to creat pages and volumes of dogma? The Bible was written, in many places, metaphoricly. It wasn't meant as a weapon or an excuse. It makes no sense to me that people go through every word and verse in the entire book forensicly like a dirty lawyer. Salvation! Ten Commandments! Simple, Right?
This whole nonsense that people go through where folks get branded "anti" -something just because they have x belief between themselves and God has been given enough wasted effort by churches. When it gets confusing, it has more chance to be political.
Some clergy will convince people that someone will come to the door and confiscate their Bible if they vote for Joe Blow. How do people get stupid enough to fall for that? Is the brain stunted.
Spirituality is about one's own self improvement - not what's wrong with whoever

Spirituality is about ones self improvement.
Religion is more social. What is good for society. Jesus actually broke the 10 Commandments into two commandments: Love God above all (covers 1-4 of the Ten commandments) ... and love each other as we want to be loved (5-10). Back to Moses ... he came down from the mountain with the 10 Commandments ... and well, ppl argued and needed mediators (judges / arbitrators) and the 10 Commandments grew into some 600 more rules to follow. This is where we have gotten many of our laws ... inheritance laws ... how to handle accidental murders ... face it ... if we could live as Jesus did, then we'd need no more laws ... but we all have sin & self desires; and need leaders. Fine, you may disagree with some of the religious leaders ... but they're not politicians (with the USA separating church & state)O ... they're only trying to get us to see what is good under God's word.
As a Catholic, I believe that we're all "One Body" in Christ. This means that what ever sin you bear, so do I ... what ever sin I bear, so do you. So, spirituality will help me, but religion can help eveyone.
Sometimes to find logic, one needs to listen to the argument, challenge the argument ... and then make a conclusion ... have you tried this yet?

You are so right. All of the extra crap and the way it is pushed on people might be the reason I decided to really look at it and discover I was Pagan at heart.I decided to think about the whole God thing a few months ago,and I thought about it too much and now I'm Atheist. It has totally ruined what could have been a decent experience for me.They need to preach what is important and leave the rest of it alone.Too many interpreters spoil the book...

If you want to keep it simple, that is fine. Some people have a burning desire to know God more. Part of our sanctification process [infusion of the holiness of God] is done through reading and meditating on God's word.
But you are right,
TRUST AND OBEY
FOR THERE IS NO OTHER WAY
TO BE HAPPY IN JESUS
BUT TO TRUST AND OBEY.

The bible is the breathed word of god.,...all truth. You can either accept it all as truth or none of it ...you cant just pick and choose the parts that make you feel good.
And your comment on dogma and the additions of church legalism to the bible is where catholcism and others like it have gone astray.

Some people love to immerse themselves in meaningless dogma-in reality their obsession with creeds, liturgies and doctrines prevents them from ever really knowing God.

there are three ways to gain control in a society and religion is one of these. when individual worship became a group religion things changed as societies became increasingly specialized and religious leaders had to be taken care of by their followers. as long as they did their jobs properly and the society prospered they remained in control. when they failed a different group took over. all this leads to power over their followers

You have a choice to listen to others and you also have a right to voice your opinion. With that having been said, others also have a right to their opinions as well.
