veils means cocvering the hairs, showing ur hands and face, so there is no problem with that concerning photos and IDs.
if a woman covers everything including her hands and face this is called (Nekab), very strict and religious women do that, not all muslims. and in this case , she is obliged to show her face to take photos, and for officers to see for security purposes.
p.s: u dont need to be a racist to be curious about muslims, lets all trust eachothers intentions, feel free to ask anything else.
i respect non-Muslims who ask many questions, at least they are using their minds, trying to know from Muslims themselves, which is the most accurate answers u can get (media dont have to be the only reference)

If you ware glasses they insist that you have your picture taken with glasses for ID of any kind.
It would depend on kind of veil. A boorkha or Chader may not be allowed but veil is allowed(certain kind).
Most enlightened authorities have created a special provision for this type of religious or personal preference requirements. They provide special booth with appropriate official(in this case a female official). Where there is heavy traffic they keep separate lines for male and female.
Where there is will, there is away.
People can always meet each other half way, under certain situations, A polite request for the presence and permission of a male escort may be the only thing required in many situations.

First of all, women DO NOT HAVE TO cover their faces in Islam... as a matter of fact, in Mecca, when Muslim men and women do the annual pilgrimage, women CANNOT cover their faces... so, it beats me why some women still choose to cover their faces...
now to answer your question, I know that in some airports, where these women's choice is respected, they're taken to a small room where they are asked to show their faces to a female officer who would check with the passport pic (which is with no face cover of course)...
hope this helps...

I have nothing to add to the beautiful answer given by yasmine besides the fact that 100% of all married women in northern India cover thier face with veil.
You can not see thier face .

Some ladies look very beautiful even with their veils, because they can't hide the they walk.
In countries with high humidity, it is horrible to receive or entertain them- you fancy!
I earnestly request the mullahs to allow the ladies to wear what they want in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia & Indonesia.

I am Hindu ,but I can say that we should not make fun of veils .I wish our Hindu girls can show such self respect to themselves and respect for their culture. These are times of terrorism. We should find ways to get ID cards etc. without hearting anybodies feelings.
