I wonder if a cat is brave enough to fight dog that even is as big as herself.

Yes I’ve seen a number of cat, dog fights. And the cats win, Even a small cat and a big dog. Cats are fast and attack the dog’s nose and face. It’s not a fight to the death. Usually it’s very fast the dog feels the pain of slashing claws across their face, eyes, and nose and runs off crying. But your right there is the physiological factor. Cats that weren’t raise around dog may be afraid and run and a dog will give chase. We have a number of cats and dog raised together and the dogs will always give the cats their due respect. Even unknown dogs from around the neighborhood. Cats that have been around dogs know how to handle them. I have two stories. I had a cat who was killed by two marauding dogs. The dogs roaming around looking for fun caught my cat between them and pull until they broke her back. I chased off the dogs when I saw what was happening. The cat lived a short time and then died, very sad for me. Then this story is cool and I’ll never forget it. We have a dog-named Flower and she’s getting pretty old now about 12 or 13. I was out front of the house working and a car. And some stranger dog was hanging around when I heard Flower cry out. I looked up from under the hood of the car and saw the stranger dog that was a pretty large had Flower by the neck and was holding her down. The stranger dog had Flower in a death grip to the neck. I went over and kicked the bigger attacking dog with little or no effect. Then I saw Gracie a small thin cat that was raised with Flower and would sleep next to Flower. When Gracie was a baby, a car hit her mother when she was still very young so Flower was like a mother to her.
Well I see Gracie kind of bounces off the hood of a car and flew through the air with all twenty claws fully extended and a crazed look on her face. She landing on the attacking dogs face and ripped into him. The attacking dog ran off crying with Gracie still dug deeply into his face, biting and scratching. I couldn’t see where the dog ran off too. But after a while Gracie came back just fine the attacking dog went to places unknown never to return. So an experienced cat can handle a dog and a dog that knows the pain of a claw scratch across the nose will show due respect.

I have seen this go both ways....we used to have a cat that used to chase dogs out of the yard..he had been raised with dogs and acted like he thought he was one..but then I've seen my dog grab a stray cat that climbed over our fence and the cat lost it's life...

Unfortunately I have and the cat lost by a long shot. I have also seen cats challenge dogs and thankfully for the cat the dogs did not care. The one time there was this stray cat that hung around our barn and we have always had dogs not cats. So most of our dogs had no tolerance for cats at all. For whatever reason this cat decided he had a problem with one of our Shepherds and I guess he did not choose his battle wisely. The cat actually came up to the Shepherd and scratched it. I was on my horse and before i could break it up there was not much left of the cat. Most cats will not win against most dogs, because I have ha dogs who tolerated cats and I had one Rottweiler that loved them (they were her babies).

Yes I watched a tiny cat attack my dog (a puppy at the time). Since he had never seen a cat before he just kind of screamed.. LOL.. The end result was me getting a lot of scratches, as I put myself between the cat and my dog. Funny thing is that my dog still likes cats.

sadly enough I have and the cat won. My husband bought me a kitten for Christmas many years ago, then a Chihuahua the following May. I got home one afternoon to my husband watching TV with the cat on one side of his lap and the Chihuahua on the other, I guess I startled the cat when I shut the front door because as soon as I did, the cat jumped up and attacked the puppy and my husband. Both my husband and dog had scratches EVERYWHERE

Our neighbors have a Burnese Mountain Dog. They're not small by any means. They brought her over last week. She wandered into my son's room, and my two cats followed. The dog unwittingly got in between my male and female....and my male, chivalrous fellow that he is, turned into a buzz saw and whooped the dog's as*s.

Now if the dog were cat aggressive, my cat would be dead now....but a cat is definitely brave enough to try.

My Siamese cat once attacked a group of German Shepherds that walked past our front yard...

She had just had a litter of kittens and we put her out in the front yard for the first time with them... When these dogs (three) walked by she tore out after them and jumped on the back of one.. All three dogs took off at full speed and my cat came back to watch over her litter again....

My roommate's cat Puma fought with a boxer. He sprung onto the dog's face. He's a mean cat who likes to bite and scratch, so the dog didn't have a chance. The dog survived, and Puma walked away with little damage.

I once saw my old cat (quite small) face down an Alsatian and chase it away; cats make a lot of noise for their size (if you look at it from a dog's perspective)- they also try to slash their claws directly at the dog's eyes, making it back up and run in some instances.

Hope this helps!
