Religion does not wage war-- only people do. In the name of religion, people express their hatred and bias view against each other. I'm sure God is very ashamed of us all.
Can't we all just believe what ever we wish to and leave each other alone?

How many athiests have blown themselves up killing innocent people, religion is the cause of ALL wars, when you refer to laws and anarchy i presume you are talking about a sharia, there are laws and have been laws which have nothing to do with religion, laws are made by man for the purposes of man. You haven't got a clue what you are talking about. I have seen your sharia laws in practise, people running over a six year old childs arm with a car crushing it because he stole a loaf of bread, hands and feet amputated. You think modern civilised people should live like this,
Take some time and review the words of your religion with an open mind and you will see the true barbarism of what it realy is

Yes, religion can breed war. For centuries, people have been persecuted for their religion. The witches were burned at the stake for Pagan beliefs, the Jews were gassed for their beliefs, Christians have bombed abortion clinics in the name of God. Although these examples may not be full out war (except for the Holocaust) they are still small wars waged on the basis of religion. I do not think that religion teaches killing; however, there are extremists in every religion that are willing to take it to the point of murder to be heard.
By the way, just for the record, I am not an atheist.

Well let's see more people have been killed, maimed, and tortured in the name of religion than pretty much any other cause.
September 11th was caused by religious fanatics as were The Salem Witch Trials, The Crusades, Manifest Destiny, The Spanish Inquistion, and The Palestinians' war against Israel.
Many scientists and Philosophers were killed for Theorizing anything that went against religious teachings. Read about Nicolaus Copernicus and Giordanno Bruno being killed. Read about how the church threatened to imprison or execute Galileo Galilee. What did these men do that was so horrible you ask? They proved scientifically that the earth revolves around the sun contrary to the long established religious beliefs stating otherwise.
Members of the Taliban and The KKK both claim to be good followers of their religion and yet both groups are about killing and subjugating anyone who does not share their skin color and views. Members of The Army of God bomb abortion clinics with flagrant disregard for the life of patients, doctors, or innocent bystanders not to mention fire and EMS personnel who respond to it. Fred Phelps runs around preaching "God hates Gays" and harasses soldiers and mourners at funerals for fallen soldiers. Terrorists strap bombs to their children to kill soldiers and citizens especially in Israel. All in the name of religion.
Funny how the more devout someone is the more they see killing as negotiable. I guess it's so long as he or she worships the same invisible man in the sky you do.

I agree with you. I also want to extend my thanks to you for having such a tolerant and loving attitude toward your fellow human being. I don't think religion should be banned either. I am not an atheist, I am a pagan. I would get very upset if my religion were banned. Religion is what gives a lot of people an anchor in this world.
However, as far as wars are concerned, it is not so much the religion itself, it is more the disagreements and intolerances of certain people that belong to them. The war then starts in the NAME of the religion. It's all people that just don't agree with each other and refuse to accept that people's personal beliefs are valid.

Religion in itself is not the cause of war. It is the tool used by governments or people seeking power to rally the people's support. If all religion were abolished, I believe (no, actually I know) that governments would simply use other methods to rally the people.
Religion, however, does create more of a willingness to die for a cause. With the concept of "eternal life" people are not as afraid to die for their country, cause, etc. If people realized there was NOTHING once they died then perhaps far less people would be so willing to give their lives so recklessly.

All war is caused by greed and the want of power. Often it is under the disguise of religion, and maybe many of the less educated and poor say it is for their religion, but, they too are looking for a better life. Very few people go to war for strictly religion.

Think of it this way.
Why were millions of people killed by low iq'ed mob of christians in the 13th century because of religion, they were doing gods will.
Also countries with high levels of atheism contribute and help suffering countries like australia,uk,japan, etc helping sudan, ethopia etc.
If religion had its way today would be havoc like 3billion people will be dead because they work on a sunday

just do a search on religious wars and you'll see all kinds of examples.
For instance: how about the crusades? that was about religion and nothing else.
Those who ignore history will be condemned to repeat it. The Lord God of the Supreme Church of Bob has ordaned it.

there are three ways to gain control in society these three are religion military and political. religion in itself may not always start a war but is definitely a contributing factor as there are many who go to war to gain resources and then proceed to shove their religious belief system down the conquered people throats forcing them to accept the ways of the conquerors.
