As in, the contents of the tin emptied out onto a plate with a sprig of parsley? Can't they come up with something more imaginative?
They do make me laugh though. The other day I saw a tin of tongue and the tongue was just sliced up and hovering in thin air, with "serving suggestion" underneath it!!! How do you make tongue float?
Lets start a campaign for "real serving suggestions"! -or just do away with them altogether -I do have a mind of my own you know!

I heard that the pictures on ice-cream boxes aren't even of ice-cream, they use MASHED POTATO!!! This is because the heat of the lights would melt the ice cream before they had time to get a good picture.

Very good question. I agree, we need to get serving suggestions removed from packaging or at least renamed 'This is what you do with it, idiot' suggestions instead. Pointless waste of print especially on cereal packets - cornflakes, in a bowl with some milk - duh, what else can you do with them.
It's like allergy warnings - I saw one on a bag of KP Peanuts the other day stating "Warning - Contains peanuts"

Well you have alot of nerve asking a question like that here. There could be kids reading this site ma'am. I'm sure there's a special interest group that protects the feelings of 'serving suggestions' and I'm gonna call them now. You can't stop me. I'm crazy like that. The other day I ran around the house with scissors in my hand. Oh yeah I did !! You can't stop me. And just yesterday I washed my hair, but all I did was ' lather and rinse'. You got it, I skipped the ' repeat ' part. You can't stop me. I'll do it again if you push me too far.

Maybe it's to make you feel better about buying prepacked food - because you know you can serve it better than what's in the photo! Cooking from scratch is much better though: delicious, wholesome food. Get a compost heap started and you can add your veg waste to it. Plus you will be saving the planet at the same time cos you're not buying into over-packaged food.

lol its true. Do you remember those adverts that ran on tv that showed sandwich meat (ie those bernard matthews turkey or ham slices) being cut up into pasta? It just looked wrong!! It made me go "ewww!" every time I saw it...in fact I believe that I'm right in saying it was taken off air in the end because that was the general reaction to it. Sandwich meat for sandwiches, real meat for pasta, its just the way it should be!
As for Super Noodles - don't get me started!! Their serving suggestions are just rubbish!! I read one once that said "Why not try chicken super noodles on toast?"...LOL!! Nooooo!!

serving suggestions on food are like alot of the answers on this yahoo answers (I don't know what you would call it) they are just put there for lack of anything better, be origional, the only good serving suggestions are on crackers, like trisckets, that always looked good, and why are you buying tounge in can, that sounds really gross, fresh tounge is one thing, but i would like to see it float that sounds pretty cool
