No, I have my problems with the war, but this is a different type of fight in a different environment. If everyone remembers correctly, the recent Iraq war was won with the collapse of the Saddam government, what is now going on is technically a separate conflict, which consist of mainly counter insurgency operations.
Vietnam was a war against socialist peasant uprising, while the current operations in Iraq are more of a attempt to stop a radical Islamic movement from taken over large portions of the region.

well I do not think hidding in a desert climate is quite as easy as the lush forests of nam but as far as being somewhere that we never should have been for reasons that never existed to accomplish goals that have no positive affect on the majority of US citizens and where there is very little chance that we will ever truly succeed then Yeah. The enemy is neither as smart nor as organized.

It all depends what you mean by "Vietnam". It certainly does not look winnable though. If they had blocked off the borders in the beginning then the problems of late may have never happened.
