I go out for walks but not rambles.

Is a walk on a Sunday afternoon after dinner any different to a ramble on the same afternoon?

What is the difference between the two? Is it distance? Difference in clothing? Or just the person saying I think ill go for a walk/ramble?

a ramle is usually an extended walk
in other words something catches your eye and you start idly meandering-kind of like a physical daydream
you don't go out for a ramble -it starts as a walk- and the ramble follows on
same clothing
a ramble then goes on to an undetermined distance untill you decide to go back
usually a walk is shorter because you have some idea of where you are going

Rambling refers to aimlessly wandering or roaming. As in, Yesterday I went bird hunting, I walked down the dirt road until I saw one run into the brush. When I got to the area where it went in at I couldn't see it so I entered the woods to find it. Now my walk turned into a ramble since I had to go over trees, around brush, and not only did my walk change but my manner of speech changed as well. I was really rambling on. I was a rambling fool. And I never did get the bird. &^%(( @^#** bird!!!!

I think a ramble tends to be quite long, and involve going off the main paths and roads - but not quite as hard-core as a hike. Still, very good point. I tend to always say walk, I don't like to think I've ever been a 'rambler' (apart from in some of my answers)!

i think a ramble is more a countryside thing because of the hills and valleys. a ramble in the park or on the street is really just a walk

I would have to say that when you reach a point of have bits of twig and leave in your hair, mud or cow/horse poo all over your boots, you have rambled. Also looking at flowers, trees and any muddy space also goes towards"rambling"!

When you leave a path and go "exploring" its a ramble.
If you stick to established paths then its a walk.
