It's hard to tell. It all depends on what the believers did instead. We atheists like to think that it would make everyone into a mature rational person, but it's at least as likely that the folks who needed belief in that kind of thing would find some other belief perhaps even more harmful.
One thing is certain: the world would look VERY different. The respondent who says "look around you" is seriously mistaken: almost everyone currently believes in gods, and in the United States, many Islamic countries and most third world countries, a high percentage of people say that their beliefs in god guide their day-to-day lives. Our problems have many causes, but a shortage of belief in god is definitely not one of them.

History is littered with abandoned gods. An alphabetical list could start with Apollo, Baal, Cybele, pass through Loki and Quetzalcoatl and end with Zeus. And that would not cover all of them. Knowing what some of them demanded it's plain we're better off without them. There's only a few gods left and most of them belong to the Hindus.

It would go to hell. The great tendency of most is to act like a spoiled 12 year old. This is done deliberately by the conspiracy. Immature individuals lack the will power to think for themselves, and are easily led like sheep.
The side effect is, most are incredibly self-centered, with no ability to think of the consequences of an action. Children playing with matches don't think about setting their home on fire.
Without any belief in God, these children will destroy everything.

We would be able to move foreward together as a society...Religion is the one main thing that divides us...If we all realized that we are just humans who don't have much time here on earth we would be able to work on figuring out on how to better humanity rather then hoping god will do it for us.

No televangelists would certainly be a marked improvement. No lying politicians' making a pretense of piety and invoking God while invading other countries to enrich themselves and their cronies. No time wasted praying instead of doing something about it. No money wasted on church buildings and staff. No more "Praise Album 47" commercials. No more fundies telling everyone they are going to hell. No more Westboro Baptist ****tards. No more priests boinking altar boys. No more holy wars or holy warriors. I see nothing but upside.

Look at the world now. If all stop beliefing the world probably not last because first all God would punish us. If not then evil itself would be so bad that we would destroy ourselves. Either way it would be bad.

Well, probably a lot more peace harmony and love for a start. I mean you are all killing each other of different versions of the same thing. Also, since faith lends supstance ... I would be diminished proportionally.

We would finally be able to evolve. Wars would come to an end. Scientific achievements like Stem Cell research would allow scientists to be able to explore new treatment methods for diseases.
