for two points I'll answer this simply, no you can have jewish, christian, pagan friends etc. You just don't marry them if you a girl and boys can only marry those who follow the book.

I am not Muslim and yet I have many Muslim friends. The Holy books say many things but a person has to feel out what is good and right for them. Why not just try to find out on your own and make friends with a Muslim? There are many nice Muslims on this site that would be open to a new friendship. Then you will know first hand if what you asked is true or false. Learning through personal experience always teaches a deeper lessons then just taking someone else's word for it.

The word that you translate as 'befriend' is a classical Arabic word better understood as 'make aliances with...' and this comes out of a context of the prophet (pbuh) and the first Muslims going to war with various Jewish and Christian tribes in the Arabah.
As a matter of fact I have many dear and close Muslim and Christian friends and I treasure their friendship as I am sure they treasure mine.

Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
-Holy Quran 2:62

No. that's rubbish, some of my best friends are Muslim and even as a Christian if believe were are all equal in this world. And if we follow our faiths to the best that we can in the sake of peace them we will all have our rewards in the end.
May your God go with you.

Hello.
Im Muslim , there is nothing stating that Muslims should not befriend other religions.
I have freinds from alot of religion, like christianity, hinduism etc.
Im proud to be a Muslim.
its wrong translation which indicates the wrong meaning in Quran.

This not true, i have friends who are from all backgrounds.
Muslims, jewish, christians actually follow the similiar teachings and should respect all.
The problem is there are bad preachers who teach hate.
Humans have the ablity to love which has no barriers.

i doubt it. i'm christian and have lots of muslim friends. most of them are quite dedicated to islam and therefore wouldn't want me as a friend if the quran told them not to.
