What kind of food are you feeding?
A rule of thumb is that anything you can buy in a grocery store is not healthy for your dog because of all the corn and byproducts (as well as other things) that your dog can not digest.
You may want to try a high-quality food like Canidae, California Natural, Wellness, Innova or something similar, if you haven't already. (Of course, any time you switch foods, your dog may have slightly soft stools for a few days, but that will clear up in just a matter of days usually.)
The higher grade food cost a little more per bag, but since you feed less of it (because they don't have fillers like grocery store brands), it comes out cheaper in the long run.

Dog gas is pretty common - my beagle puppy can actually make our eyes water!!
But if this wasn't a problem before, and it's worsening, then I'd visit the vet - just in case. Cause it could signal a problem in the digestive tract, especially in a dog of that age.
Better safe than sorry, right?

Lol Connie-My Moms dog and her husband(my Dad)had the same problem. My Mom started buying the product "Beano" for my Dad and his gassing off days came to a halt.My Dad being disgusted with the dogs constant farting decided to give some "Beano" to the pooch and low and behold-it worked. Now Mom could enjoy the company of both hubby and pooch without the gassy aroma. You can get Beano from most anywhere.Hope this helps.Have a nice day.

Give him a reason not to be afraid. Put the candle on a table, light it, and give your dog a good (as in hot dogs) treat. A lot of dogs are afraid of fireworks and thunder. You might want to get some tranquilizers from your vet next year.

Even though there is no change in his diet, you might want to change something there. What are you feeding him? Senior dog food, and only dry food is the best. No table scraps, dogs intestines cannot handle the kind of food we eat, especially now that your dog is getting older.
If you are already feeding him properly, talk to your vet.

Older dogs (13 year is really old) develop a sluggish digestion as their system becomes older. You will have to change his diet to something he can digest more easily. For the moment give him tablet/syrup to tune up his digestion. You vet may give him a Liver extract injection which usually fixes the problem. The diagnosis for your dog based on the symptoms provided by you is INDIGESTION to put in simple terminology.

its probably an age issue... you can use Beano... it helps but its probably a change in its digestive system... just like people their bodies change with age... something might be wrong... you might want to take it to a vet for a checkup... if you dont then you are doing something right because 13 is a really good age for dogs... keep up the good work... good luck!!!

Petco and Petsmart (or any pet supply store, i'm sure) carry anti-gas tablets for dogs, mine loves them as much as treats, and they work great.
