People automatically assume everyone wants to hold their baby, bad assumption. Not every one is interested in holding a baby and one should wait until they are asked, then there would be no hard feelings. No, if you are not a baby person, you are just not a baby person, that is not a sin. They may look at you strange, however, it is your choice. God Bless

That's a good question. I remember reading a survey a long time ago and the question was "if you went to someones house and they had a new baby and a new puppy, which one would you want to hold?"
I would choose the new puppy almost every time! :) It's not rude. People should understand.
Sometimes I want to hold a baby and sometimes I don't. No biggie.

No. It's better to decline than doing things which makes you uncomfortable. 'Just decline politely and tell that someone that you don't know how to carry a baby and that you're afraid that you might end up hurting the baby.

Washing your hands is an remarkable theory and not presumptuous at in touch approximately my area as in spite of in case you do no longer carry the infant you may touch his/her issues, and that i additionally do no longer think of its impolite to ask to hold the infant exceptionally as quickly as you have washed your hands, basically don't be indignant if she isn't waiting to enable absolutely everyone carry the infant yet, exceptionally if its her first, yet once you adult males are somewhat good buddies (assuming you're in view which you're so in touch approximately this) she possibly won't have a difficulty with you retaining her little angel :)

In a social situation- just decline politely. Chances are, no offense will be taken. No reason or explanation is really needed. Just smile and say "no thanks".

It was my experience that if someone wanted to hold the baby- they asked me. I do not recall asking someone if they wanted to hold the baby...

You don't have to have an excuse to decline, but if you feel you do make something up like I feel like I might be coming down with a cold.

You don't have to decline. Just hold the baby by the legs like if you didn't know what to do with it, and it will be rapidly removed from your arms, no harm done.

If you offer a small explanation, I have a cold, or i am wearing my good clothes etc. then the parent will understand. Just declining may bring bad feelings as they may be looking for a break from their child or they think that you have bad thoughts of their child.
