often times for Muslim women who do not cover it is a touchy issue.... most agree that it is an obligation of Islam.... many Muslim women who do not cover feel guilty...

i know i did until i began covering... but if you handle things in a respectful manner you are not at all wrong for only asking a question.... also if you would like you can email me at syeda1203@yahoo.com for more information on hijab(covering) or just islam in general

peace be on you

Vanity ;)

Although I come from a Muslim family I grew up within a social circle that really emphasized a lot on the way a person looks, especially women. Who has the nicest hair style, the most beautiful jewellery, the best fashion sense etc. My family is moderately religious, but they never asked me to wear a hijab (scarf). My mum and my older sister does, but I don't think they ever expected me to. My family has always believed that I shouldn't be forced into doing anything... but prayers is a must!

As a young teen I always thought the hijab made a woman look "un-modern", and there's always that influence from friends, but I've grown since then and I have a much, much better understanding of Islam.. so who knows, I just might surprise my whole family and start wearing the hijab someday soon ! :)

I may not wear the hijab but it doesn't mean I know any less about Islam. It doesn't mean I go out on dates with guys or go clubbing every weekend. I'm still very much a Muslim in many aspects, and that seems to surprise a lot of people when they meet me. Just because I don't wear the hijab people just expect me to have "Western values".

Now a days world is becoming more fanatics than ever even a simple issue could be a touchy issue. See the controvery over Dutch Cartoon, and recently the hair cutting of a boy belonged to Sikh community. Everything is going on religious grounds. But tell the people to whom you know very well.

Well I do wear a scarf, but some other girls do not like it.

It's as simple as that, some girls just don't cover up because either they have been brought up in a culture where everyone doesn't cover up or they simply don't like it.

Of course it is against the teachings of Islam about covering up, but that does not mean we would go and beat them with a stick!

I have friends that don't cover and we go out and have fun just like any normal friend would do.

I guess so... I do not know I cover! Never crossed my mind to ask others. You know I guess that we Americans are so used to seen uncovered Muslims on Channel 13 / PBS and in some news when they bring "Scholars" to tallk that we really think is normal so you might be offending them I guess..... I am not offended by your question though. SOrry I have no better answer!

Being someone qualified in Islamic analyze, i'd opt for to describe that Muslim females are exempted from non secular responsibilities in the course of the menstruation. This rule easily relieves females from having to keep the 5 each day prayers, fasting and different responsibilities at the same time as she is contained in the uncomfortable actual situation of menstruation. How can one imagine a woman being requested to quick in this example? i ought to make sparkling, in spite of the indisputable fact that, that some human beings generalize and restrict all sorts of "prayers". The ritual prayer in Islam is termed "salat" and it should be carried out 5 cases an afternoon in a particular way. This "salat" isn't required from females in the time of their menstruation. The English note "prayer" is better accepted than the Islamic "salat", and would contain different sorts of prayers like the supplication that one does any time of the day, and devoid of having to do the rituals of the Islamic "salat". this form of prayers isn't prohibited for females. In different words, menstruating females can keep praying to God, chatting with Him, praising Him, asking for His love and forgiveness, yet devoid of doing it in a ritual "salat." The "submission" website isn't an Islamic website. It belongs to a sect that became created by skill of "Rashad Khalifa", a Christian Egyptian who claimed that he became Muslim, then made an enormous publicity about a pretend discovery called the "numerical miracle of the Quran". interior an same e book he claimed that he defined the precise date of the top of the international, which completely contradicts what the Quran and the Sunna carry forth. Later his reality became got here across. He also claimed that the Sunnah isn't portion of Islamic regulation and that we do no longer could follow it, so as it truly is why his sect is totally outdoors Islam. wish this makes issues sparkling. Salaam-peace.

I think they might don't coz their family didn't care about that point " if they were born in a muslim family "
or becoz they don't think that they have to , maybe they are afraid from wt ppl say about them , and all of them becoz iman hasn't reached their hearts ......
