What a great question and what equally fabulous answers have been given. Highly entertaining reading. I don't know why Dan Brown is so popular with today's culture. If there were a blood line, what would that mean? I mean seriously, would it put your faith in jeopardy, If you have faith. Or are a believer for that matter. That however is a question the Bible does not answer because it would never have been a question. The oldest child of any Jewish household would have been a learned man as he went to school to learn the talmud and torah. It was an expectation. Also In that culture, Husbands and wives were chosen by the parents and there is no mention of this, but there is on many other disciples. It is curious to be omitted if it were true. Christ never speaks against marriage. Paul certainly did for a certain time, or lifestyle (i'm talking missionaries) So to take fictional literature and ascribe it some truth, although fantastical reading is not quite what Dan Brown was after. He states emphatically that it was a work of fiction to highlight the absurdity of the priory of scion and other fanatical groups. But it's great that people are reading again.

No, and yes.

1. No, it is not true about Jesus, because Jesus did not exist. There is almost no solid historical evidence that the Jesus character in the Bible ever existed. In any case, if he did exist, he most certainly was not "the son of God," because there is no God.

2. Yes, if there had been a Jesus and he had children, there would be many, many of his offspring living today. Statisticians and demographers say that over the course of 2,000 years, his genes would have spread througbhout the human gene pool to the extent that many millions of people alive today would have been descended from him.

In all the ranting and raving by televangelists and other demagogues about "The Da Vinci Code," they conspicuously avoid debating the central point of Dan Brown's book, which is that the Christian church, from its very beginning has been a male-dominated group that has downgraded and suppressed women.

Legitimate Biblical scholars say that Mary Magdalene would have been a partner or equal of Jeus in the early church, and that the men who fashioned the Jesus legend into a formal religion distorted the role of Mary Magdalene in order to justify their exclusion of women from church decision-making.

That male chavinism continues right down to this day, with many Christian churches refusing to accept women as pastors. There is no more sexist group on the planet than Christianity, which for most of America's history opposed the right of women to vote, and even today, Christian men oppose the rights of women to control their own bodies.

Dan Brown deserves praise for exposing the hypocrisy and lies of organized Christianity.

I don't think true or false is the right way to go about this since it can not be proved either way. I think it is more about personal belief and opinion. I personally believe Jesus probably was with Mary Magdalene. I don't know if they had a child or not but it's possible. What would it change if they did?

there has been no positive proof. according to the DA Vinci code which is a fictional book they were. there is another book titled " Holy Blood - Holy Grail " which explores this possibility as well and from according to certain sources on which D. Brown received some information. D. Brown wrote the book in such a manner that fooled a lot of people into believing fiction was fact. remember what A. Lincoln said, " you can fool some of the people some of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. " be cynical and skeptical

Nobody will EVER know. However, at 33 years old and single Jesus would have looked very odd to the people living at the time. I suspect they were an item but we can't be sure.

Yes its true, she wasnt a prossie, just the Church trying to be holier than thou.

For those ignoramuses out there this story was around a long time before Dan Brown was even a twinkle in his Daddys eye, in fact forget Dan Brown, this story is as old as the Bible it self. Dan Brown used it in his book he certainly did not make up the rumour

You hit a nerve with this question.

Not for me personally but for the many Christian zealots. They are legion!

A religious zealot is a zealot no matter the religion they choose.

When you ask a question like this, for your own safety, always make sure you have one foot in the stirrup!

Have fun but be safe!

That's what DaVinci is trying to prove by pointing out the only woman in the portrait of the Last Supper and her supposed demeanor and facial expression toward Jesus. To ask and to answer is sacreligious to a great many. And that's why it's called FAITH. You learn your beliefs (whatever religion) and accept it. Why even go there?

The Bible as a holy book does not contradict itself but the people who read the Bible interpret it differently to suit their situations or their own religion or sect. I had never come accross such a verse in the Bible. So to your answer it is absolute FALSE.
