23And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli......
38Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.
how could jesus have been the son of Joseph if he was the son of god??
it doesn't make sense? who was his true father?

But it makes the assumption that Joseph was Jesuses father by saying he was of the line of Joseph, when its plain he wasn't.

In Catholic doctrine, there is only one God...a God of three persons called the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In a sense, they all pertain to one single God.
God the Son was sent here on Earth as a human being through the person of Jesus by God the Father. God the Father only used Joseph and Mary as instruments so that someone would bear Jesus in the womb and look after Him as He goes through the "process" of life, that is from birth till death.
Therefore, Joseph is Jesus' father. And as a God, he is also the son of God the Father.
I hope this helps.

Joseph was Jesus' biological father, plain and simple.
If God wanted a son on earth he would have sent a fully developed man and not a fertilised egg. Even humans know the risks to a child's life from conception to adulthood.

The question your asking has no answer. Jesus is the manifestation of God on earth. If you ascribe to Christian views. If not, then his true father is the one who raised him, not the one who planted the seed. So it continues that Jesus said when he was in the temple at a young age, and his parent came looking for him "why do you worry about me, I am in my fathers house". God is the father of all, and Jesus was speaking about his spiritual self, that which is the part of God. So then too we are all God's children. Brothers and Sisters in Christ. So too then, it was Joseph who raised him, and he is the son of Joseph and Mary. So it is, who IS his true father then, not who WAS his true father. You are asking a paternal question, but trying to answer it with a spiritual text. Not the right way to go about it, and that is not the correct interpritation of the literature.

You have answered your own question.
Being (AS WAS SUPPOSED) the son of Joseph.
Effectively, Joseph was Jesus' step dad. In becoming that, Jesus became an heir of King David, according to Scripture. He was also "God Among Us" - Emmanual - according to Isaiah 7

This topic was covered in a debate between a christian and a muslim "Is the Bible God's word".
The Christian was Jimmy Swaggart - a US Evangalist with a TV/evangelical missionary empire.
According to the Quran, if God wants something to be done he just has to say "be" and it is. This is how jesus was born without a father by the "word" of God.

Jesus was born through Immaculate conception. When Mary was told that she would bear a son she was also told by the Angel Gabriel "that the Holy Spirit would descend upon Her"Mary did not doubt neither do we.

tricky question maybe the answer lies in modern sperm donor situation...
theoretically God created the child... so genetically He was the son of God.
However Joseph raised him one can only assume as his own, so he was the father by proxy, because it would appear that God doesnt seem to have intervened a whole lot in His upbringing.
would be one way to consider it.

I can offer you this -
Jewish lineage goes according to the mother. If your mother is Jewish, then you are Jewish. Jesus needed to be Jewish, thus he was born of a Jewish woman.
Adam was the son of God. God created Adam.
God was Jesus's Father. How can that be? For me, I don't find it a problem for God to have fathered, or created, a child with Mary. God created the universe, would it be too hard for Him to manipulate an ovum?
