"Indian Giver" is an extremely racist term.
It is generally used to describe people who give something and then take it back.
It's also double speak... because it has actually been the
European-Settlers who have reneged on most of the promises between the First Nations and the European-Settlers.
This term is at least as bad as saying someone "Jewed" or "Gyped" you (as in gave you a bad deal).
Terms like these really need to be taken out of comon useage!

ndian giver is an American English expression used for any individual who gives something and then either takes it back or wants to take it back.
The expression Indian giver is based on the belief that Native Americans would lend items to the settlers, in other words, let them borrow necessities. The settlers thought that this was a gift from the Native Americans; hence, they were shocked when the Native Americans asked for their items back.
Some consider the phrase a racial stereotype because using the term to denote a person who takes back what they previously gave implies that Native Americans might commonly practice this. It also uses the term Indian to denote Native American, which can be offensive to some.

An Indian giver is one who gives a gift to a person and then wants it back if he /she gets angry at the recipient about something. The name came about because supposedly this was an American Indian trait. I suppose there have been and are people like that, not necessarily American Indians.

A completely rascist statement. It ascribes giving a possesion to someone, then taking it back. This was ascribed to Native Americans. Funny thing is, they are the ones that have lost all their land (i guess a whole sepperate topic when you considered who developed the land, and now who wants profit from it).

Someone who gives you something and then takes it back. It's a racist saying, though, so I wouldn't use it much.
