Hi Richard,

I own and have owned many birds. I learnt that when making things for the birds to climb and chew that you should only use fruit wood (like an apple tree or pear tree), as the wood doesn't splinter and cause harm to the bird if they swallow it.

Hope this helps you!

You can use wooden blocks with a hole drilled in the center and put a large chain through them to hold it together. Make sure the chain does not contain zinc. Use paper, cardboard, rawhide chews (the ones they sell for dogs). You can use leather cords to connect them and even leave lengths of so they can chew on the leather too. I even keep pieces of old toys and use them build new toys later.

we keep our bird out of his cage and he flies around the house. keeping him in a cage is mean and you shouldnt have a bird if your going to lock it up. even if its not in there all the time... its wrong.....
