I am looking for a list of non-life Insurance Companies in the USA, and insurance regulatroy bodies (eg NJ Department of Banking and Insurance) by state. Would such a list be available online? I am a student doing an assignment and cannot afford to pay for such a list. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here's a link to a web page that has links to all State insurance departments:

Getting a list of all licensed health insurers will be much more difficult. You can go to your local library and review the A. M. Best Guide, which lists all licensed insurers. It has a web site, but I don't think you can print a list.

I hope this helps.

Each state regulates their own insurance industry. There is no "master list" on line, as there is no "master regulatory agency" in the US.

There is no list of "insurance companies" in the US, as there are literally thousands. You can go to the state website of any particular state, however, and get a list of the hundreds of companies licensed to do business IN THAT PARTICULAR STATE. Keep in mind, though, that insurance companies can do business in states they are NOT admitted in, in which case they are then NOT subject to that particular state insurance department control.

Also, you might want to try www.ambest.com, which rates many (but by no means all!) insurance companies on a "financial strength" basis.

Get a job and consistent with probability your wellbeing will boost.
