Turkey is a secular state, not an Islamic one.

I doubt very much that you would have any difficulty in sharing a room in Istanbul or anywhere else in Turkey frequented by tourists. In some of the more conservative parts of Anatolia it is more difficult, but even there, if you go to the large, expensive hotels, it would probably be OK.

Well, I am an unmarried Muslim Turkish woman, and we sometimes like to stay at the hotel with my boyfriend late at nights, when we feel lazy after all Saturday night dance and drinking.

In decent hotels, tourists can without problems unless the hotels suspects of prostitution. It is more difficult for Turkish citizens however as they are asked for marriage certificate almost always.

I stayed with my boyfriend in the same hotel room in Alanya, Turkey and we had no problems. We had to show our passports and they knew we had different last names, but nobody said anything about it!! We also were not Turkish citizens. I am Dutch and my boyfriend is Irish!!
