I was working in Bahrain recently and want to exchange Bahrain Dinars for Aussie Dollars. I live in Sydney. Does anybody know if this currency is accepted anywhere?

You can exchange all notes except 1/2 BD. Various financial establishments have different fees. The current rate is around 1BD=3.56AUD. Finally, the Bahrain Dinar is pegged to the Greenback.

You can certainly get it converted however may be cost will be little more as Australia and Bahrain may not have trading directly.

In banks Citibank will be best bet as Citi is having its branch in Bahrain.

Also depends how much money you are converting and what is denomination. If you have more money and you have all BHD 20 notes then it will be worthwhile to go to bank or try your luck as some exchange house or travel agency.

If you have different notes then you may try to catch up with some Numismatics shop.
