I personally use Kaspersky Anti Virus, Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware and Windows Defender

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Spybot

http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html AdAware

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx windows defender

Kaspersky is not a free Anti Virus, but i would recommend anyone to it... http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/

and yes hun you did do the right thing, except i have never heard of rune up utilities 2006.... this might be a rogue spyware scanner which pretends you have more on your pc then you actually do, i also could not find anything on google about it so maybe you should check that the name is correct for that software package.

message me if you need help, cheers and good luck!!

yup you did the right thing, make sure you uninstalled that orrible expensive norton, AVG and Avast are good free virus checkers.
also install spybot and windows defender. those programs will remove most stuff and tell you the security levels of each problem,

on avg, u can click on the file of the virus, once it is detected and the scan is done. once u r there delete the file and empty your recycle bin.
