The mass is one of the Roman Catholics Church's important rites.
While most of the Protestant Christian world also celebrate the death of Jesus during communion (using grape juice and unleavened bread) as a "SYMBOL" and a time to reconsecrate themsleves. Protestants (Methodist, Lutherans, Baptists, Evangelicals, etc) believe the Bible text that says that Jesus died "ONCE" for the sins of the world. Just before He died Jesus said - "It is finished" and suddenly the curtain in the temple was rent from top to bottom signifying the end of the sacrificial system because the lambs and sacrifices pointed to Jesus as the "lamb that takes away the sins of the world" -According to John the Baptist.

The Catholic on the other hand (Read any Catholic cathechism book) boast that their priests have so much power that when they say (during the mass), while raising the bread/host - "this is my body...." Jesus would literally come down from heaven and the bread "actually" (not symbolically) become the body of Christ.
This is the doctrine they call "Transubstantation".

Amazing huh ! So over all the world as often as the priest would say the mass "supposedly" Christ would come down to actually become the bread. This doctrine never cease to amaze me. This is one of the doctrines that entered the "Mother" church during the dark ages and is now so entrenched a doctrine for the Church to retract from.

Of course, the Protestant world also cling to basic/plain teachings of the Bible like....Dont worship/bow/pray to idols. The Roman Catholic Church on the other hand introduced idols in the church. They simpy gave them "Christian names" - St. Peter, Virgin Mary., etc.

So "YES" to your question. The Catholic teaches that the host is a "clone" of Jesus. "Powerful" - these catholic priests ! ! !
