Dandruff and psoraisis are two opposite things. Dandruff increases with use of oil wheras Posraisis reduces with application of oil. Dandruff - can be controlled by good diet and proper shampoo. Psorasis too can be controlled - but it comes again and again and is not limited to head but can spread over the entire body. I have been using Fungitar shampoo every alternate day - for last two years. It works - but its not an permanent solution

Dandruff can't be cured, it must be mananged. Try Nizarol shampoo 2-3 times a week & I also use Garnier Fruitis for dandruff between the Nizarol. It really healps a lot. The Garnier really smells good. But If I"m having a terrible flair-up I'll use the Nizarol, it's fairly expensive & sold over the counter for about $12 or so, it's very worth it.

Just in case you didn't know, dandruff is caused by dry skin. So, I'm not sure of your shower habits, but if you DONT wash your hair everyday, try that. On the other hand if you DO wash it everday try cutting back to everyother day. Also, it might be the shampoo your using. It could be the chemicals in it. Try using organic soaps like "Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Pure-Castile Soap, Hemp-Peppermint" I just started using it and it's great for not overdrying your skin. It's not shampoo, but I use it for my body and hair. I got it from drugstore.com (just in case you cant find it.) Hope that helps!! Oh, also, think about buying a conditioner that you can leave in your hair, or just put lotion in it if you cheap! :-)

Hi to all. I had psoraisis for last 14 years. last year in june 2002 all the medicines failed working on me. It was spread all over my body and i lost all hopes of living and as i was unmarried i started hating my life. I tried all the types of medication alopathic, homeopathic, ayurvedic, and all of them and all had same answer no permenant cure.
Well not taking your time let me come to the point last year one of my uncle came from usa and he knows hypnosis so he taught me I worked with hypnosis it's getting better. Omer

I've tried the creams, but that's trying to fix a problem on the outside. Now I am on a treatment from the iside, AND it seems to be WORKING :)Cut out all the wheat flour products, change to RYE Bread, and each day take ONE ONLY (no more) Zink Complex tablet (from super market or health store)READ the Health warning on Zink, but like every thing else Moderation is OK.. I am really pleased with the results so far, only after 3 weeks I feel much better. Best Wishes to All. Julian

I have had Psorisis for 19 years now and I have been using two creams prescribed by the doctors one called Celestone-M (which they use in thehospitals) and the other called Diprosone (which usaully the doctors have to get clearance to prescribe)I have found that within a week or two my skin has cleared up but as soon as I stop using them it flares back up again.(only coz I am lazy and get sick of using creams all the time) but if your looking for a quick fix ask your doctor about those ones. I suggest you try ZINK pills. The first thing I noticed was zink lozenges for my cold helped, so I tried pills and have had some lessening of the thickening on my hands and sides of my feet. Also Cortizone 10 helps the itching quickly. Lynn

Psoriasis is a lack of essential fatty acids in your body. Try taking either Flaxseed oil or Evening Primrose oil. You can buy it at a health food store usually. Amanda

My favorite over the counter preparation for psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis is Meted Shampoo. There are also tar shampoos available but they usually stink and aren't anymore effective than daily shampooing with Meted. If that doesn't do the trick then I usually resort to soaking the scalp at night with Bakers P & S solution and shampooing in the am. As a last resort topical steroids are also effective but come with a host of potential problems after long term use. These are the allopathic methods. From an Advanced Energy Healing perspective, I would want to explore issues related to your crown chakra, such as your connection to the divine. Do you have prayer practices or meditate? Could the inflammation in your scalp be related to a refusal to allow divine intervention in your life? Where are you doing it your way instead of surrendering to divine will? (etc., Stuff like that). I am available for phone Consults. (for a fee of course) Edgar Cayce had some interesting approaches to psoriasis but I've never tried any of them. Look at

I am glad to be able to respond to your request regarding the connection between psychological issues and skin diseases. It is quite common that the psychological self uses the physical body to manifest what we term 'breeches of integrity.'
Often times, we are faced with a psychological issue that may not be easy or convenient to deal with consciously. As this emotional or psyc issue is stored away for later resolution in the subconscious, the body holds the energies that are associated with the particular issue at hand. These energies are stored in the blood, tissues and or organs of the individual. The location for storage of the energies is expressed in the statement 'a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.' If your weakness is in the cellular structure of the skin and my weakness is in the lungs, your subconscious will use that weak link as the vehicle to release the negative energies of the emotional experience. You may well develop a skin disorder while my reaction to the same experience may well be manifest as breathing or anxiety disorders.
Further, it is our experience that various skin disorders may also represent a continuum of disease symptoms. That is, we may have experienced skin irritations as a physical sign that the subconscious mind wants to deal with the issue and release the energy of the psyc issue. If the resolution of the issue is ignored and postponed, the manifestation of the illness through physical symptoms tends to increase to arouse our awareness to higher levels to encourage us to deal with the issues.
This is a brief over view of our approach to the connection. It has demonstrated to be an effective approach to the healing process in this type of psychological and physical connection.
Respectfully, Dr. Randy McCreary - Director of Neurotherapy
