do baptisms in the catholic churhc only happen on a sunday or any day of the week?

i think it may be any day of the week but it probably depends on where you live.

Are you a church goer or is this baptism a means of giving your child a name. If the latter then you register a name with the state. If the former then it is wonderful that you and your child will both be members of the church.
I am not a Catholic but what ever religion, then the whole family should be in it together.

This could depend on practices of your local parish. Many parishes celebrate Baptisms on Sundays so that they can be celebrated with the larger community present. There is no church law that says it has to be on Sunday. I have attended many Baptisms held on a Saturday afternoon or evening.

My Son was baptised on a Sunday, after the main Sunday service.

generally it is on sunday's after mass. if it's an emergency or such, often times the pastor wll make allowances.
