The Hartlepool area is very small, with the lifestyle being rural-ish, less than suburban. it is not like London or Cardiff. It is a seaside and agricultural area, with a depressed economy.

The quality of life is good, if you have family there. If you do not, and you are a foreigner to the area, then you are not going to enjoy yourself there. There is a lack of understanding of foreginers, or soutehrners, or different people in general fro ma lack of outsiders wanting to go up there.

Cost of living is lower than in the southeast, but it's still higher than Canada!

Harlepool in keeping with most Northern Towns has had an extensive face lift...the people of the North are friendly and helpful...The culture is more family motivated families tend to mix more aren't so isolated...Grandparents help with young children to avoid both the cost of child minders and their Grand kids being cared for by paid professionals...the schools are good both state and private with plenty of choice...on the whole the North has a good standard of living as we don't pay so much for our property and don't have to spend so long commuting to and from work..All in all Harlepool and other northern towns are to be well recommended..

The North East of England is very affluent...the people are very friendly and have time to stop and talk to you..Education is good as our schools are not overcrowded..Night life is first class as there is lots of competition between the major cities...Deprived...no way...
