Lately I seem to randomly get what feels like very light pins & needles in my left hand in the last two fingers and the palm just below them.

There's no pain or anything but it causes my left hand to react a bit slower than usual.

It seems to occur randomly for about 2-3 days then go away for about a week or so before returning again. I can't seem to just shake it off.

Is it something I should be worried about? I can't see the point in going to see a GP about pins & needles but I haven't found anything to suggest that it's serious anyway.

I had a similar thing on my right hand. Pins and needles / tingling down through my palm to my little finger and the next finger.

It turned out to be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. basically, all the nerves that travel down your arm and into your hand, goes through a tunnel in your wrist - the Carpal Tunnel. Sometime this tunnel presses on the nerves which gives you the tingling feeling.

There are a couple of things that can be done - the first route is a steroid injection in the tunnel ( in your wrist) which should ease the pressure. This has a good success rate, but it may come back at some time.

The other option is a really simple operation where they just snip the top of the tunnel to relieve the pressue. This is the more permament option.

Either way, go an see your GP just to make sure but that's what it sounds like..

"Puppy", hi,
Yes, you had better get attention. I don't know how old you are, but the symptoms you describe indicate a problem with the nerves coming to the forearm and hand. The location you describe indicates an ULNA nerve problem, or its roots.
This being said, the problem could be in the elbow, where the ulna nerve goes under a fibrous band that can at times compress the nerve.
Alternately, the problem could be in the neck. Nerve roots can get pinched between the neck vertebrae or stretched over a "cervical rib" or a band.
I notice a lot of suggestions for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. While this is a possibility, CTS would be lower on the list of probabilities... but definitely not excluded.
This needs to be tackled by an Orthopaedic surgeon... y'know, the saw-bones fellas.
Hope this was helpful

Sounds like a little touch of radial nerve compression. Most of us have bonked our funnybone and felt that intense fiery tingling burn sensation. Where the never ;passes through the point of the elbow. There's a spot where the nerve is a little less well protected, and a hit there is anthing BUT funny. Mainly this kind of symptom might be expected after some sort of injury, or compression of the nerve as it passes through a narrow channel between bone. Particular kinds of repetitive movement involving the elbow can aggravate the problem if you happen to have that t endency. It will come and go, but if the problem becomes really severe, or long lasting, a talk with an orthopaedic specialist to discuss possible treatment might be a good idea.

It is probably from a nerve being pinched. I am currently being treated for "thoracic outlet disease" and that is how it starts. I'm doing exercises to try and help it. The 2 fingers you talk about I think it the clue here. Very annoying but not life threatening. Mine is now both hands and sometimes up by arms because I didn't get it looked out sooner.

Carpel Tunnel or Tennis elbow can cause these symptoms. The ulnar nerve is compromised from mild swelling causing these symptoms. If you work using a computer daily or some repetitive movement it will cause these problems. Try using a wrist stabalizer, this will ease the symptoms, also an anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen will also help.

I get this when my shoulder is acting up, in MY shoulder it the nerve getting hung up on the bone or something. I forget, my chiropractor explained it to me. It might not be the same for you, so I recommend going to see a doctor because if your problem is poor circulation you could be in trouble. This symptom could be a sign of a real problem.
