I suffer with the same problem much to the amusement of my work colleagues and we have solved the problems. I fall asleep whilst typing and what I am dreaming actually gets typed onto any document I am working on. It really pisses me off. I cannot shake it for about 2 hours.

For lunch I would have salad, with a baby tin of tuna ( lemon and black pepper) not the strait shite and some crackers or if we went out at lunch (shopping) at the mall, I would have a kebab or a peice of crumbed fish, a salad sandwich or peta bread or maybe a steamed dim sim to to eat on the way back. Knocks me out every time....

So I started thinking it has to be the food or my blood sugar levels, so with the advice of one of our staff members who is wheat intolerant, and also looks after her body big time, she suggested I change to protein only, no carbs at all. during the day. It does not matter at night because you are going to bed anyway.

I have a protein drink for brekky, nothing else(there are some that have up to 24g carbs, so be careful when you select. The ones I get have only 2g of carb (Dr Aitkens ones) and then I have my small tin of tuna, or any meat you want no larger than the palm of your hand and I have cos and mignette lettuce, cherry tomatos and celery ( a good diuretic) with some balsamic Vinegar, basil and olive oil I make in a small bottle and pour it over. I also have different variations of salad but keep away from carrots (high in carbs beleive it or not, beetroot, corn and peas) Although I eat a samll container of salad, you can have a bucket full if you want and you can have lots more ingredients that are low GI vegies. But after the Protein Drink, you are not that hungry. Have fruit for morning and afternoon tea (keep away from mangoes and banannas).

In addition, I have cut back my coffee intake and drink two litres of water a day. This does not include other drinks such as tea etc. I drink green.

I am now aware of what triggers of my daily sleep apnea and it is a bloody wonderful relief. This does not stop me from still enjoying the things that affect me, I am wrapped I now have a answer to the cause. Try it. Might be your answer.

Are you sleeping well at night? If you think you are, do you have somebody that lives with you that would know if you are snoring excessively tossing and turning in your sleep, etc?

It is possible that you may have a sleep disorder which is causing you to feel drowsy during the day.

My Father has Sleep Apnea and he was having the same trouble, he was tired all day and snored all night. If you do not receive enough oxygen during sleep hours, your body is not taking full advantage of sleep and you are not getting the rest that you should.

As far as simple medications to help you stay awake, you can try caffeine pills (they come in MANY different forms). Ginseng root, ginseng pills and other herbal remedies are also available. I would speak to a pharmacist for a reccomendation on a prescription or over-the-counter medication at the very least, you may even want to consult with a physician.

It could mean that you have a serious condition called "sleep apnea". It is a life threatening condition if not treated (you litterally STOP breathing in your sleep)but this condition can be diagnosed by having a sleep study done, and can be treated by sleeping with a c-pap machine at night!! At the "sleep study" they will also check you for narcolepsy, another type of sleep disorder.

p.s.if you are a heavy snorer, and wake up with head-aches,then this is a good indication that you DO suffer from one of these.

Have a cup of coffee.
Also, make sure you are sleeping at least 8 hours at night.
