Aleve (naproxen sodium) appears to be a safer alternative. I take 800 mg. every night at bedtime for pain relief from fibromyalgia and have had no noticeable side effects from it.

Alternative To Ibuprofen

Ibuprofen & most of the pain killers are known as NSAIDs (Non steroidal Anti Inflamatory Drugs) and all of them relieve pain and are very useful but at the same time all of these drugs are harmful to stomach and will cause Ulcer and stomach pain if they are used continiously. If you have some pain that is not getting releived even after 2 weeks and you should stay on the pain killer then it would be wiser to take homeopathy remedies like arnica (30) , rhus.tox (30) , Bryonia (30) , Hypericum (30) etc or some Ayurvedic remedies which can be used continiously without any side effects.

I suffer chronic severe lower back pain and I currently prescribed diclofenic sodium, the trade name is Voltarol. It is a NSAID, the same classification as Iboprofen. It does have an effect on your stomach, in that in can cause ulcers over a long period so you need to be prescribed an inhibitor to take with it - I am on Ranitidine. You must also make sure you take the drugs after eating - try taking the Ranidine about an hour or so prior to the Voltarol to prepare the way.

I was tried on a couple of variants of COX2 inhibitors, one of them being Celebrex, but when the concerns and black clouds formed from the USA our medical people were warned to stop prescribing it.

You don't say what your particular problem is, but if it is a back problem then I sympathise with you. One thing I don't recommend is Cortisone injections, I had 6 in my back and they didn't make a bit of difference - they are very hit and miss!

Half the problem with me is the severe spasming of the supportive muscles which surround the affected damage, which, in turn enhances the pain, you might try asking about a relaxant (Baclofen) or even an antidepressant if your situation is the same.

Keep it moving, is a good thing and plenty of ice to reduce the inflammation to allow the healing process to occur. Its all very well other people telling you not to take the drugs but they don't understand!

As for me I'm looking for some whacky baccy - see if that'll do the trick!

Diclofenac Sodium, Diclofenac Potassium, Indomethacin, Naproxen , Ketoprofen.. and so many others .. but be aware as most of these drugs , including ibuprofen, are hard on stomach and must be taken after meals to avoid/reduce their side effect on the stomach ..

when i was younger i used to have constant headaches and i was recomended to go on a multi vitamin tablet which seemed to work... now i get them due to lack of water... but then that ones my fault, just make sure you're not dehidrated the other option is paracetamol or co-codamol (paracetamol and codiene)... almost always works for me and is the most common drug given for headaches in the UK one option is that they could be being caused by something you're eating/drinking maybe cutting different things out of your diet for periods of time and seeing if it has any effect could be an option for you other option which may sound really wierd is to get a piece of amethyst and place it between your eyebrows and lay down with your arms by your side... it worked for me and i've used it several times since... it may be a good idea to look up some more information on the net about gem healing as it'll take to long for me to explain it all now without making it confusing... if the headache is only light it only took about 5 minutes for it to go in my case and it took over half an hour for with a migraine but each person is different hope that helps

Naproxen and aspirin are the other anti-inflamatories. Tylenol is not an anti-inflamatory.

Usually ibuprofen is easier on the stomach than aspirin and naproxen but that's up to the user to decide.

What works for one person might not work for someone else. :)

Aleve, also known as Naproxen sodium, but be aware, it can be VERY hard on your stomach, so take it with some bread or crackers, also a full stomach would be best, but consult your doctor is really the best adice a person can give you. Good Luck!!!
