Long distance relationships require a lot of work and a lot of trust. Generally though, absence makes the eyes go wander and you can't help but be tempted by the person close by who is willing to give you everything you aren't getting with a long distant relationship, like time and affection.

I always find it funny when people jump in to say "waste of time". But the fact remains that it does work, as stated above it requires a lot of trust. My current wife and I were in a long distance relationship for about a year. We have been living together for 3 years now and married for 1 year and 5 months. Don't be so quick to say it never works!

It's hard work, Alex!

If you're willing to give it a try then go for it.

Don't give up before you've even started.

You can still enjoy the intimacy when you see other as it's built up over a period of time so it makes it exciting.

Besides, being in a long distant relationship doesn't mean it's going to be long-distant forever right?

Be open and honest with each other, and at times it can be hard over phone/email/letters.

Arrange weekend trips and holidays with each other soon. They're always a good test as well when you're with each other 24/7.

Good Luck.

I find it to be a complete waste of time. In most relationships you need intimacy. Without it, your relationship may not survive.
