Drugstore shampoos and conditioners are cheap for a reason. They are full of harsh chemicals that strip color and natural oils from your hair and cause damage. They are also full of wax the coats the outside of the hair shaft. But out of these Pantene is the absolute worst and Suave is next. They use the most wax and the harshest chemicals. If you must use a drugstore brand use Aussie. They use natural ingredients instead of all the chemicals and wax. You have to realize though, that shampoo cleans your hair, that is all that it can do. You need a conditioner to make your hair silky and soft. Matrix conditioners are great, I don't recommend Redken or Kenra and especially not Paul Mitchell (their stuff is the worst!). BedHead and Catwalk are both made by TIGI and they are amazing, I put my trust in everything they make. Fashonista is a great shampoo, it is the prefect strength and it lathers really well (so you only need a tiny bit).

You know, it's really gross but once a month I soak my hair in mayo. It really works. It is so soft. I think it's the egg whites that are in it or something. Same stuff in ranch dressing but I'd rather use the mayo lol. I have been dying my hair for 10 yrs, pretty much once a month to get roots. I'm telling you mayo works wonders. Put it in and leave it wrapped up in a towel for about an hour and then wash it out. Won't smell good but it works great. Use some really nice smelling shampoo afterwards lol.
I have also heard from a lot of people over the years that pantene is bad for your hair, I've even heard that of Herbel Essence. Something about it ********* your hair of the natural oils and vitimins that we need in our hair. Makes it feel softer for a while but in the long run it does more damage to our hair than it does good. Actually making it easier to damage.

Herbal Essence all the way! Do the basic hair care (you might know this, but if not): - shampoo everywhere, scrubbing your scalp, but not piling your hair on top of your head, because that will cause tangles - condition only at hair at your neck and below - Blow dry, flat iron, curl, etc... only when you absolutely have to! To make mine soft and silky, I let shampoo sit while I use body wash. While leaving the wash on, I wash off the shampoo and put on conditioner. Leave that on, and wash off the body wash. That makes it nice, clean, and soft. I also bring a brush with me, so when the water is still running, and all the soap is out of my hair, I can comb it. That's all I can think of for now. Good luck!

working previously as a hairdresser, pantene is full of plasticizers, this coats the hair and gives the appearance of shine. However this coating causes the hair to become brittle over time and dull. I would advise Dove intensive for very dry hair, it works. Also wherever possible try to allow your hair to dry naturally. If you use a hair dryer use protection spray for blow drying. Straighteners are a killer try to avoid these. Once a fortnight use a clarifying shampoo to clear any build up on the hair (neutogena does a good one) shine baby shine!

Pantene coats your hair with wax to make you think it works. In the long run it just damages your hair. Use a different shampoo for truly healthy hair.
