"Colorado Springs - As the nation fortifies its Southwest land border to stop illegal immigrants from Mexico and elsewhere, the U.S. Coast Guard is bracing for diverted migrants at sea - and preparing a maritime virtual fence.
The plans call for surveillance drones that can augment radar to spot smugglers of people or drugs on the oceans, combined with patrols by helicopters equipped with mounted machine guns.
Tightening U.S. enforcement along the U.S.-Mexico border "needs to extend into the water. That is the goal," said Adm. Thad Allen...."
Since ALL our borders need to be secure, I am glad they are on top of this.

I agree, but in this day and age we are also trying to keep out terrorist! That's something people seem to forget. It makes me mad. I'm Mexican and I feel for my people who want a better life but at the same time bad people are coming over too! If terrorist were attacking Mexico I'd like to think they would do all they could to protect their country!

I think it's a great opportunity for the Coast Guard to keep on doing a great job! In partnership with the Border Patrol, it should start to put an end to the entire mess and the problems with Mexico. But, it bears remembering that they said some of the people from Mexico were coming in....through Canada...

Even though I'm not American, I'm a bit glad to see illegal immigrants get stopped. Sure, a few futures are lost but what is that compared to what the illegal immigrants might bring? They might get more teens on drugs, more prostitutes and many more!

You know if they're going to put a border around Mexico or whatever they need to put one next to Canada as well, but then again how many Canadians enter our country illegally?
